The physic's engine doesn't allow realistic ramming, though. You'd ram a ship and just be bumped back with the very same speed you hit the ship if you EK. If you hit it from a weird angle, you can end up with 500m/s or even higher sometimes. While that is fun, it's stupid. Imagine a Ranseur cruise-EKing against you. We all know how tanky capitals are only useful in melee.

Without EK, the bump would be a one-time thing that deals massive damage and then constant damage because of the hugging. Tanks would turn into battering rams.

Better not touch a running system. Last time we got the aux slots with fart cannons.

What I find curious though is that I heard that in that one Star Wars mod this bumping thing doesn't happen. No idea how it was called nor how they solved it though.

Most likely Freeworlds: Tides of War as this one is a fancy Freelancer mod. If I remember well @Alley has stated somewhere on forums that Disco devs can do nothing withno permission to use the code of theirs (unless it was on different topic :?)

It was not request to take their code and more like "Look it seems to be possible somehow".

Just for the fun of it Ill give an example of how easy it could be abused.
Say you got a snub group chasing a target in a bigger fight. You tell one of the big caps on your side to sit at the end of another tradelane and wait for you to fly through.
IF it is positioned right and shoots the lane after you exit all the following snubs will be thrown out at the exact same place at the lane, ramming into the ship and loosing tons of regens.

If you're too slow to get away from the lane in time, you shouldn't join combat at all.

Oh, I see what you mean. However, point stands anyway. Unless that ship that tries to get in the way is cloaked, you will be able to quit the lane long before the point of imminent collision.

I dont talk a ship sitting in the rings waiting for you, but next to the lane. You wont realize it is sitting in that exact spot before you explode.
Apart from that this wouldnt solve the problem in the slightest. Ships still would get bumped, just that they have the ability to instakill everything below a VHF by simply touching it.
