Why only Coalition/Russians should have such privilege? If they will speak Russian, Rheinland must speak full German, in Kusari you will be screwed without knowing Japanese and entering Gallia would on your own risk without having at least basic French.

That would improve the ingame roleplay for sure. No more playing without google translator ready. Especially traders will enjoy making such lenghty conversations full of translating stuff back and forth when encountering local lawfuls or unlawfuls.

On a ragebreak. Or ragequit. Time will tell.

Too some measure we do drop Russian into our room speach mostly greetings, order acceptance responses and sometimes farewells. Depends on the situation. Also the SCRA isn't all Russians, some are members of the other houses which came to the Coalition for multiple reasons so while now should speak Russian, the players could very we'll speak everything from French to Japanese

And because flood

You would never understand anything, also, you have to keep in mind that inRP, people that joined the Coalition are from Sirius. They don't speak russian. They would speak whatever they speak in rheinland or kusari or other parts of Sirius they came from.
This is a issue that needs to be addressed. I keep seeing people use inRP english language, french and german. Its been over 800 years, I fail to see how the current population of Sirius would identify themselves as German or French or Japanese. They see themselves as Bretonian or Libertonian or Kusarian. You don't see an American saying he's British. Or Mexican as Spanish.
And in 800 years old languages would had develop new things like accents, dialects and even new words.
Watch The Expanse, its a really good show and you will see how the Belters developed new words and dialects in only a few dozen of years. Same for Martians.
From my perspective, I doubt they even teach history in Sirian schools from old Earth. Maybe few elementary things like the location of earth and cultures maybe, very late years of earth before they left it anyway, nothing too deep like languages, or the first and second world war like some members think is so important in Sirian universe.

This I agree with, I imagine th concept of these ears could be likened to the way we treat the wars of Rome, or the Greeks

Yup, not every single person in Coalition speaks russian. Originally, it was the Eastern Coalition, which should have included the countries of CIS and BRICS.

And the disco wiki page says that official Coalition languages are English, Russian, Arabic and Chinese.

Most of us maybe can't type russian words? Neither translate them? AND MAYBE NOT EVEN TO UNDERSTAND?

Seriously now, no russian. (Coalition is not fully russian)

Quidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur.

All languages are equal in principle, but what matters in practice is that other people can understand you. Every person who's been to school understands English these days. Russia didn't invent computers and Hollywood movies, which is quite a pity, because it could have offered a much richer culture to the world than the USA.

There's many non-Russian SCRA players. They will not understand you if you speak Russian to them.

PS: I like the caps lock in the headline. Makes the whole thread appear even more memey! You are just joking, right?
