The Xenos are currently one of the poorest of all the criminal factions, so they have little resources to buy better ships and weapons. To gain a more stable income stream, they hope to evict the Junkers from Texas, and ultimately New York, and thus control a crucial market for Cardamine.

Logically and logistically it makes sense to try to tap into the cardamine market for the Xenos, given their exceedingly weak position. Going up against an entity like the junkers for 0 payoff beyond 'THEY TOOK MERH JOHB' seems fairly foolish, and a missed interesting RP opportunity. Shame to see it go to waste, maybe some day we'll see another xeno faction spring up and try to make use of that bit of vanilla lore.

We go after junkers because they bring and allow to flourish elements like the rogues, outcasts, lanehackers, etc. Then there's the slaving and smuggling too. Not because they took our jobs which.. I kind of doubt, we weren't really in the scrap business.

Cardamine is a highly foreign and disgusting drug. It enslaves Liberty to the Outcasts. Tell me why it makes sense for an ultra nationalist terrorist group to seek chemical enslavement to another external country?

Despite it being my personal views on that vanilla lore being utter hogwash that wasn't thought out really, it's also always been XA's view on cardamine and it always will be if I can help it.

It's a point of pride for XA that, though we're not very successful, we have not lost sight of our goal in the pursuit of base human vices like greed. Such befell the Mollys, Unioners, Lane Hackers, etc. Such is stated in our faction information. So yes, our refusal to extort beyond our ideological beliefs and refusal to enslave Liberty to Malta makes us less successful. But it keeps Xenos pure and, although doomed to fail, that's admirable in and of itself.

Besides, our main pull is being the underdogs. And transport blues. Can't forget those.

Edit: I apologize for the abrasiveness. I've been very passionate about this faction ever since I joined 5 years ago and can get a little heated when defending it. I'm sure that's familiar for a lot of people that've gotten sucked into disco :p.

Honestly, I think that infocard is really outdated and should probably be cut. Xenos have long evolved past it. For example, whilst Junkers have the Cardamine trade, the Xenos have opted to focus on Artifacts and import them from Corsair space (with strict regulations however). The Xenos also obtained sympathises from more pro-Libertonian elements within the House, such as USI (not sure if it is still the case but USI and XA used to collaborate back when I was in XA). But I think this is better because as the XA Account explained there's a myriad of reasons why Caradmine would conflict with the Xenos ethos, and probably be detrimental to them in the long term. Perhaps within the confines of Vanilla Xenos were once desperate enough to desire the Cardamine trade, but that is certainly not the case any longer. I think we can all agree that infocard seems really out of place.

Otherwise, there are lots of reasons why Junkers are treated no better than scum. They're dirty, smelly, enable the flourishment of criminals right under Liberty's nose, pirate Libertonian traders in the Border Worlds, and help perpetuate the Orange Dream.

In my XA days, some time back in the bronze age (2008), our official policy toward the vanilla infocard about fighting for a piece of the Cardi trade was to aggressively ignore it. It had no bearing on who we were or what we were about.

As to the diplomacy, why are you guys neutral towards IMG or Zoners? The old policy was, if you weren't Libertonian and from Liberty, you got shot. Zoners, IMG, Corsairs, Queen F'n Carina herself, we didn't care. If you weren't Libertonian, you were less than, and the universe was a better place without you.

I respectfully disagree, and the XA was not always neutral to those two, it just depends on how far your memory goes back. The Xenos are poor specifically because everyone's their enemy. The entire cause is hate, the rest is mere justification. Hate is unreasonable, and makes easy and incorrect assumptions. It's not about getting away from house influence, it's about Us vs. Them, and 'Them' is anyone who isn't Libertonian by birth.

The IMG has its origins in Bretonia, and Bretonians are Them, and therefore job-stealing enemies of the Libertonian worker.

The Zoners are all about live-and-let-live, and you can't just live with the enemy. They'll destroy you every time if you try. The Zoners misguided philosophy is poison for a pure Liberty. The Libertonians amongst the Zoners have rejected their birthright and are little better than foreigners themselves.

Those Universal boys aren't too bad, but the rest of the corporations would sell out the Libertonian people in half a heartbeat for a single Kusari or Rheinland credit.

Get where I'm coming from?

Personally, I'd usually quiz the captain of the vessel to figure out their origin; if they're Libertonian, I might give them a free pass. Otherwise, unless they're supporting Libertonian trade, there's no reason why Xenos would treat them any differently to everyone else.

To both of you: I guess it depends on how you want to play your Xeno character. At its heart, regardless of how a particular character personally feels about foreigners, the basis of the Xeno Alliance is not simple hatred of foreigners, but the demise of the Liberty working class (allegedly) due to the rise of inter-house trade and particularly an increase of cheap imports. We more strongly oppose a Libertonian bringing in food from Rheinland than a Rheinlander trading within Liberty.

Playing Xenos as "space rednecks" whose entire ideology is to hate foreigners is way overdone and I like to think XA has not, for the most part, played that cheap card.

P.S.: Lyth, I was in XA at the same time as you and I'm pretty sure our diplomacy was the same as now.

I'd wage that the Zoner issue is right there, considering they exist for House Trading, which isn't the most Zoner thing to do - only in Player Land because muh nutrulityh. A few of the Freeport's Infocards also state them as being the only safe harbor for food access to some unlawful parties, so being Hostile to Zoners would be akin to saying "no" to someone who offers food, roof and a gun while everyone else just wants your skin.

I'm not judging tho - Ores are Whale's number one cause of death.
