They jump certain kinds of ships. Trading wise are worth to mention:
The biggest "jumpable" freighter is Ragnar 850cargo, followed by Base Construction Platform 750cargo.
And of course battleships/carriers 1500-1800 cargo. Since Bustard is Liner/Carrier hybrid, you can jump that as well.

Unless it's been changed, one of the only "transport" ships that can still be jumped is the Ragnar freighter.

That's not why most people jump trade. It's to get from point A to point B in an absurd amount of time. For instance.
A run of Helium from Emlenton in Pennsylvania to Manatum in Cayman is around half an hour to a hour of time for about 25 million with a 35K transport.
If you have someone with a Mk4 JD that cuts the time down dramatically, of course now you have to use ships smaller then the Gull if you want to Jump Trade. It's not about the interaction, it's about the profit... Well at least it is for me.

Exactly that. Exactly that right there is the problem. Trading or flying at all in disco all comes with the inherent chance of player interaction. It should be, thats the point of simulating a universe in a roleplay environment like this.

When you're intentionally gutting the possibility for player interaction just so people can't interact with you,, you're actively depriving the server of just that much more interaction in a community that already has massive problems when it comes to encounter chance. You're actively contributing to that problem.

This is why jumptrading, in all of it's forms, should've been removed a long time ago: because it's antithetical to the very concept of a living-breathing world were supposed to be populating, simply to gurantee some supplies arrive at a base or just to make money way quicker than is possible elsewise.

So your shipment of hull panels doesn't arrive at a worthless mining-field POB and you cant re-enter a system for 2 hours: so what? Roleplay it- its a RP server- thats what were here for. Thats whats kept the server alive as long as it has. Actively shelving RP possibilities just for the opportunity for either less interaction to make money, or just to get more blues by PVP whoring, are inherently antithetical to the concept of a RP server in the first place. So why is it that were allowing these practices?

Ok all well and good yes it is a role play server and most of the time people role play albeit most of the role playing is people switching characters to different systems so they can rob stalk and boast off their superior fighting skills not to say hello or go for a coffee some people now and then like to trade and use all the options that the game provides jump trading is fun and there are many who would get involved because of the thrill of it your comment of living and breathing when i am entering colorado and i see a char log off from one system and enter as a pirate next to me for the sole purpose of robbing in my opinion ruins peoples game and puts people off coming back,

The problem with unrestricted jump trading is simply balance. A lot of work goes into balancing trade routes, commodities and profits per second. Being able to jump any ship anywhere kills economic balance and that is why there are restrictions in place. These restrictions are unlikely to be lifted.

My experience of JD trading has been pretty awesome. Total jumps about 12 - 15. Each time there were 4-5 in the jump. A tonne of fun. lots of team work, and a lot of camaraderie.

I didn't make that much from it. It wasn't negatively impacting on interaction, totally the opposite.

I have flown my haulers all over Sirius but stick to the trade lanes mainly. I can say I would fly for hours trading some days not meeting one other player in-game.
I do not own a JD... yet but it would add a point of variety and interest to my experience. It seems great technology to have and use.

Jump Drive II costs 200M, and you'l need a Survey Module MK III as well, that's extra 350M. It eats 11k of fuel per scan, so you need 2 friends with 5kers to scan the coordinates. And for only 1050M you have your own 1700 cargo jumptrading ship ready! Oh, did I forget to say that each jump consumes 4,5M worth of batteries?

Yeah. I think we're safe.

It's possible to make 120-180m/hour with a single JD3 Bustard with survey MK2 coords.
