New drivers...
If it still doesn't work, check your card circuitry for signs of heat or electrical damage...

I have been playing around setting up my computer as a freelancer server. I networked two computers at my house and two at a releatives. I installed freelancer on the three other computers. Two of them had this problem after a fresh install. I am also working to understand. I replaced the video card on one of them since. I will test it to see if the problem is still occuring and post later today.

Three computers were Vista, one XP. The problem occurred on two of the Vista machines.

The computer i changed the card one no longer does the flying text. I installed a newer NVidia card. Changing hardware and drivers creates a lot of other changes and doe not narrow it down much. The previous card was an integrated card; sometimes those have their own problems.

so where can i download a driver that would work, since buying hardware isn't an option for me right now?

I have problems like this regularly when I try to play old games on new computers.

Upgrading will probably make your problem worse, if anything down grade.
