true, i got taxed or killed more than once buy pirates, who were giving me a lot of fun, and nice roleplay, but there are also far too many pirates who just want cash or just want to kill somthing.

Then its, "Too late now, die!", when the poor RPing trader is trying to pull out some lines.

For me its no problem playing with pirates, paying or getting killed, while sitting on an ATrain with several hundert millions stored, but is see it far too often, some Pirates asking transports or large transports the boring "2 mill or die" and start shooting right away.

Hostetly what kind of roleplay do you expect from them, i myselfe tend to crying for Help and begging for my Life, but Pirates close to NEVER negotiate...most love the killing too mutch, i guess.

From my experiences in my real-life career as both mugger and extortionist, I can say with absolute confidence that you do meet people who prefer death rather than paying. Roughly ten percent or so.

that must be the 10 percent that say "if you kill me, there ll be 10 more to replace me" - until you say "but whats it to you then - when you re dead?"

Admin Says

NO THIS IS OORP

I would not like this to come to sanctions - however, as i see it, unless the trader has Role Played the fact that they are suicidal and wish to die.. then i for one consider this very OORP. Don't do it.

it isnt OORP cause its same like real life, if someone want to take your money, watches etc and you are armed, youll just shoot him:Dwhy should you give him your money? if you can kill him:D

Sure, if you can defend, you do. That's not what this topic is about.

It's more about a ship captain saying to a Somalian pirate "We won't pay, sink our ship and kill us all."

maybe this would happen less if you asked for less money:Pdepending on the number of people who refuse you might end up making more money if you ask for less and more people agree!

on topic: i think it's OORP he could at least try to run instead

I'm just observing that this is rather pointless, how they get OORP, and a one nice clear admin "NO THIS IS OORP" to get the point across is what i'd like to hear. I mean how hard can it be to just say "Die pirate Die! and engage", why does a trader have to say "kill me now it's just cheaper" It's oorp to value the life of you and your crew so low. I'm not saying someone could get special RP that he is suicidal, that's ok... but the majority should be sanctioned for OOC 10% of income per line. pretty basic stuff.

You can't say something is OORP if you don't know the character's story. I have a trader, for example, who is indeed a borderline suicidal. I didn't get special admin RP privileges to do this, and nor do I have to... that's just the nature of that character's RP. And although that particular trader's RP is posted on this forum, not everyone makes a forum story for each of their characters.
A piece of advice: lower the amount you ask if you want better results. The abovementioned character, for example, sets the value of his own life at 2.5 million credits. Ask that amount or less and you'll get it. Ask for more, and the character would rather die.

Besides, not all ship destructions end in death. Don't forget that it's assumed that when a character's ship explodes, the character escapes in a pod. If a trader RP's that he has insurance with a 2 million credit deductible, then it would be financially better for him just to lose the ship and file a claim than to fork over 3 million credits.
So unless you know the character's background, you can't just assume that they're being OORP.

That could be just psychology, if pirate knows that trader wont pay him, he could leave you, otherwise hell get killed.
