Discord for me,
i've had a bad experience with skype, got my account hacked recently and made the move to discord.
i do miss skype's quoting though

Using both. Will keep using both. I mentioned it countless times, I never had any real issues with Skype and even still have GC run under it after faction voting. Same with some other factions.
Discord is a good alternative but I noticed it requires a way more stable mobile connection than Skype when using it on my phone.
So pretty much they both have their advantages and disadvantages for me and I will stick to having both. Dunno how it can be so much of a pain for some people to run 2 programs and quote from one to another and not just from one chat to another chat.

One thing I'll say is that although I prefer Discord overall, the Skype tablet app is still solid. I'm just dreading it getting a snapchat-esque redesign like the current mobile Skype app (which I just don't use at now).

Riot/Matrix if I had an option, since it is open-source and also it can bridge Discord and Skype under single program.

But I'd take Discord over Skype because, while both sell user data, at least its easier to get newer users unto Discord.
To be fair, Discord has plenty of features over Skype, but I barely use them.

I would have to say Discord, though my experience with Skype was very narrow and only from a few calls and chat channels. Now I am administering stuff for a faction, the move from THP| Skype to THP| Discord has been very beneficial, both for organising things and streamlining roleplay. I wouldn't go back to be honest.
