No bounty? they're just vigilanties in that case!

Vigilantes by definition are criminals in the eyes of the law. You are confusing rules and inRP explanation. Latter plays no role in discussing rules such as these.

As said in the OP, you have no reason not to trust the BHG, as they have had several hundred years of close ties to (i.e) Rheinland when it comes to hunting criminals.

This is not just about BHG|, but indies too.

The RM ID can't take bounties for things outside its ZoI, whereas the BHG ID could. If anything, say Lambda was up against multiple targets, this makes it even easier for him to have backup.

This seems sensible and sane to me, though I think I would at least say they can't claim on boards they're rephacked -0.7 or lower with--mainly because bounty hunters do hunt criminals, specifically, and anyone claiming on a board of a faction they're hostile to would be...silly, to say the least.

Or, perhaps, instead of it being based on rephack it could just be like bounty hunters and UC provide a screenshot proving rep when they claim, but they don't have to register first. That way you can circumvent the whole registration process for those IDs and you ensure that they're not claiming for their literal enemies.

I'm all for the change otherwise.

I like the idea of allowing UC to act as bounty hunters. They're quasi-lawful themselves, so I could see them being "mutually beneficial combat assistants... For a fee, of course."

This also encourages the use of a Gallic ID, which is also neat.

As far as Bounty Hunters are concerned, I fully agree that anyone sporting a BHG ID should be rewarded with not being required to pre-register on bounty boards. After all, isn't that why some mercenaries and freelancers would join the BHG? Yes, the tech is very shiny, but the other big selling point is the reputation the Guild enjoys for being the go-to guys for hunting and tracking down criminals.

Bounty Hunting Rule 9 already takes care of preventing BHG and Freelancers from making claims with a hostile party. Claimants must be at least neutral with their contractor, and hostile to their hunted target(s).
