original skin file, I am not able to open that. do you know what program I would have to get?

about too many factions having skins maybe the pricing can go like this:

System Owning Fations

1st ship - Free!! with system
2nd ship - 150 mil
3rd ship - 300 mil
4th ship - 600 mil
no more ships allowed

Non-System Owning Fations

1st ship - 150 mil
2nd ship - 300 mil
no more ships allowed until purchase of system

Faction owning 2 or more systems can have 5th ship for 800 mil

umm just use Outcast ships as default ships and then re-skin the outcast ships for HF

you cant own more than 1 system and only 3 ships can be sold on a base to my knowledge.

i also dont know where non-system owning factions could put their fighters.

my reccomended pricing system for sys owning faction:

1st Free

2nd 300 mil

3rd 700 mil

but thats just me:crazy:

Well, from what I remember, the skins are in dds (direct draw something, no idea actually) format, 128x128, 256x256 or 512x512 size (not sure which but something similar) the format can be opened by photoshop (I'm sure of that) if you download the two (?!) plug-ins from www.nvidia.com (plug-ins exist for some other programs too).
Second you need is something to extract and put the file back into the package and first is to figure out which file is it:)

Bassically, read the skinning guides on TLR, there are quite a few of them.

Though, I still think it's a long shot Igiss will want to allow that as the mod isn't played only here but on other servers as well, so I don't think someone will want to fly a ship with, for example GoR decals on Discovery Berlin. One more thing is the increase of size as you need a separate package for each skin (think it'll easy make the mod double size in no time).

If it is going to be possible to have those ships though, I'm all for it, I'll make a few skins myself:D

those people on discovery berlin will just think "COOL!!" and buy the ship, or we could make it a discovery official server patch or somthing like that.

I hope Igiss does allow them, would make for better RPing (thats the golden arguement:P)

I had talked with Igiss about this before. He told me I could make clan ships and he would put them in. However I HAD to make them for the clan. Well rather they had to be player made and look good/decent. If he /approve he would upload them for me.

Only problem is that you just have to make sure players don't buy other clan ships. Because anyone with the right rep could buy any other factions clan ship. So it would just have to be monitored by people in-game.*

The skinning tutorial that I found said to make the skins in milkshape. Well ill look for another tutorial. BTW i still would lke to know how to get the importer/exporter for milkshape to work.

Just edit the texture Targas in Photoshop, just see how it applies itself to the ship though via milk. Just don't quote me because I might be wrong, just drop Igiss a PM I would assume.*
