Best Returning member? Indubitably the excellent MrNentendo, now shortened to @Nen. Succulent Missouri accent, good example of Southern hospitality while being surprisingly well-mannered and well-learned. An elegant, reliable mix of Libertonian and Gallic influences. Always down for sober and elegant RP, or for a space foight. Should be at the UN bridging gaps.

Best New Member? Hesitating between the delightful @suppy and the exquisite @Bordo, both great, spirited and sophisticated (in their own ways) additions to this community. Sadly, Bordo has been nowhere to be seen for a couple of months to my great sadness... As well as Suppy, who has at least returned with a vengeance. So he gets the prize. The priiize. He is another interesting take on Murican culture infused with CORE GALLIC VALUES as part of my secret scheme. Worthy of great trust and friendship. Surprisingly good writer (given he admittedly can't count as high as his push ups).

Best Quote? A few candidates spring to mind. Anything @conmann35 writes as Contre-amiral Everett Fontaine, Chambellan of the Marine Royale Gauloise, commandant du RNS Algérie would work. An extract of choice :
"You have my attention now. You do know that this DEMANDE of yours pains me quite significantly, for if I follow through with it, it will result in my presence being within the heart of civilization again. That is not intrinsically a bad thing, given the circumstances, but it will preclude me from being able to continue shining the light of Charles Himself upon the Bretonian rabble-hordes in the form of energy discharges.

Alas, you are correct. I have a duty as Chambellan to be the bridge between man et Roi, to ensure the upholding of Gallic values and, perhaps most importantly, to exude enough pomp per square inch (henceforth to be abbreviated as PSI) to choke out any feeble-minded and uncivilized folk I stumble across. Noblesse Oblige. I can only hope and anticipate that the actual fighting events will match my talents in commentary. "

Durandal's "We believe a station was attempting to, uh, enter cruise..." would be hard to top, however.

Best RP/SRP?

Sombra's Aphrodite was a page-turner, intertwining drama, gravitas, light-heartedness, cruelty and innocence quite beautifully. The denouement lost me a little at first but then I stopped being a moron and it turned out to be pretty damn satisfactory. Also : SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEX

Suppy's La Triste Epoque also gets a recommendation from me. It does great justice to Gallic lore, and is drenched in Emile Zola's realistic depictions of the day to day lives of the working class and Stendhal's coming of age drama. Unlike what I'm making it sound like, it's absolutely not pretentious and is instead written with the heart. It really shows and manages to be touching and funny as it goes. Give it a read. It also has SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEX.

Galaxian's A son of rust gets my last mention. I enjoy stream of consciousness narratives greatly, and his is a sober, to-the-point prose that hits many right notes within me. It's a simple, pleasant read, like sailing across a peaceful river, about someone trying to find himself, as I see it. Always entertaining, can be sweet, sad and moving at times. I don't recall there being SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEX in it, however. Come back to finish it, Gal. And add SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEX.

And finally for something completely different, any appearence of Pepe's Commissar Ladron was a guaranteed laugh for me. I miss Pepe greatly.

I wish I had time to give enough attention to all of what you people produce on a regular basis, I'm sure I've missed many great stories this year.

Best Event Idea? I liked the notion of events directly tying into the game's storyline, and its outcome playing a role in the story development.
I see now, much like everyone else, how that proved to be much more complicated, probably because this community is more used to whinging than to their actions having story consequences. It was a courageous move from the team, one that has my undivided support ; as the technique matures (and, hopefully, the community as well), I'm eager for more events of that nature and a flamboyant ending for the Gallic war that we won't soon forget.
