Some virus programmes have to be removed, such as Norton, and some don't, If AVG has only recently become freelancer unfriendly then best remove it altogether to see which category it falls into. It might help to clean the registry as well before you try again.

It seems AVG is Freelancer unfriendly these days. I had to completely remove it and reboot my PC in order to get Freelancer to connect.

I am now using Avira and having som problems so far

Edit your shorcut As hoodlum said. That helps to me.


Run It as administrator and try to disable AVG Residental shield.


try that. WIth modefidet shorcut on desktop .. Freelancer.exe -s82.113.48.5:2302 here add this on end.... without freelancer exe....

well gone from one problem to another, i thought I would do a fresh install in case Ive missed something, however when I go to extract discovery mod, i get the error message "cannot access common.dll" and something about the file being corrupt.

If I'm not mistaken, that error message is due to lack of administrator rights. You'll need to right-click FLMM and select "Properties", go into the "Compatibility" tab and check the "Run as administrator" box. Press "OK", and try extracting the mod. It should work afterwards.

Oh, and I needed to fully uninstall AVG and reboot my system to be able to connect to servers anew.

yeah you were right, was down to lack of adminstrator rights. ive removed AVG and got avira instead. im still getting the same error message as before, i havent cleaned my registry as suggested though, not sure how to do this!

AVG turning FL unfriendly finally cleared something out for me. Cause a month or so ago i tried logging in and i couldnt. It was AVG after all! Oh well , i guess i gotta change antivirus ... again -_-' But im not on my comp atm anyways so hehe. But i still cant play , but thats a diferent problem.

Yea , i know.I was more like me excusing of beeing away for so long but oh well.

If you want a tip , if its the anti virus , change to Avira. That one is FL friendly , and quite good , or at least so my friends who use it say. Its also the one im using now.

Hmmm , i had avast on this comp , and the guide i saw showed a link to a programme that completelly wiped the comp from the antivirus. Maybe theres a similar programme to your antivirus ?
I thought it was windows firewall at first , but it wasnt after all, so from my personal expirience u might wanna solve the antivirus bit completelly first.
