Quote:After all, how many POB sieges have been successful against properly supplied AND defended POB?

Previously literally any if attackers had 10-12 BS.

Quote:Edit: Also with such ludicrous recovery times, wouldn't it also be prudent to create a siege cooldown within the rules? Right now - fail a siege, re-declare, finish the siege - that's a problem. If a POB lived with 5% health, it would take 11 days 21 hours to repair to full. If you can re-declare, you could just finish it off like defending the base successfully with these odds was completely meaningless. Also this would likely need to be per base, as split sieges may become an issue, siege with faction 1, then 2, stagger forever.

Ex: Should a base survive a siege, that base may not have another declaration against it for 2 weeks. Sieges that are declared during the recovery period will become effective after the 2 weeks is over.

That what should be implemented. Right now most good way to defend your POB - feed attackers by ultimate amounts of salt, to destroy their ability to log, constant sieging, with timezones shifts ends in moment, when attackers could grab full team, and defenders not. So in other words, its fully depend from attackers willpower and free time.

P.S. Of course current repair rate was wrong, it was supposed make siege long, not impossible iirc.

It's not like CR, OC, Corsairs and Zoners have stopped roleplaying with people after they got a heavy battleship.

Or official Zoner faction when they got 5kers that can dock in houses too.

No faction is objectively better than any other. Let's stop community elitism.

It's almost like when people get more content they feel more motivated to create roleplay and activity, not less [Image: 1f914.png]

They're the only non-House factions with two battleships, perfect examples for the argument at hand.

I believe corporations should have bespoke gunboats and fighters. It's definitely worth thinking about having more/diversified content.

A ship with battleship grade weapons doesn't need to be InRp a battleship any more than the Nephiilim is a battleship. A mobile factory, a massive exploration vehicle, there's loads of options.

Buffing hull points was meant to increase the lenght of sieges to allow defenders to defend successfully no matter the timezone.
Nerfing repair rates was meant to decrease the required dps to overcome them and allow factions with less optimal technology to siege too, even if Snak3 couldn't figure that out on his own.

Here you can compare what sieges used to be before Operation Cathedral (Default), after Operation Cathedral (RR/10 & Hx50 Mk3), after the most recent nerf of the repair rates (RR/30 & Hx50 Mk3), and in what other ways it could have also ended up (all other tabs). Mk2 tabs use only different conditional formatting, Mk3 tabs use different conditional formatting and switches from minutes to hours when it comes to the duration of the siege. DPS calculation hasn't changed since 2014, so it obviously doesn't account for any new and more efective weaponry since then, especially those which are way more expensive and less accessible than Cerbs.

As long as people can sink in the time, effort, activity and roleplay to create content they should be rewarded for it. Imposing absolute nonsense artificial limits on things because of bogus definitions of who should and shouldn't have certain toys is stupid and detrimental. Especially when there are clear and unfair anomalies which actively undermine that policy.

If a group goes "Hey! I want to do roleplay to create new content for all players to use" and undertakes a project to achieve that, I cannot see why that can't be supported. In fact, I'm still confused about why encouraging elitism and locking such assets to official factions only is better than making them open use.
