Thats my question: Why is there a huge fleet on you? I entered Gamma a few minutes ago looking for Roleplay and bounties (Naturally, since I'm a Bounty Hunter). What do I get? Two Titans equipped with Dual-Cannonballs and a Corsair gunboat equipped with four Order turrets, all firing at my little Manta. The roleplay on their side was also a little lack-lustre, I think one of them only said "Enaging red tragets" --Translated it means "Engaging red target". I don't expect great roleplay in Gamma, but a little more would've been nice.
How this situation could've been made better:
A little more roleplay from the Corsair side.
A -somewhat- fair fight: Meaning one of the missile-spamming Titans Vs Me. Or maybe both of the Titans if they were particularly bad fighters.
I would like to thank all of you who have posted for your inputs. It has given me deeper insight on this issue, it seems it's more complex than I expected at first. Something that has been ongoing for a period of time rather than an short outburst and something that seems to affect many more groups than I expected.
From what I've read so far, it seems many agree on the point of the "vengence theory". Basically that one major influential group performed something that was regarded as "poor behaviour" towards the Corsairs and then the Corsairs answered with similar actions. It also seems that many agree on that specific group being Bounty Hunters, but wether these Bounty Hunters are factionalized or simply belong to one organization, maybe even random individuals has not yet been agreed upon. Another thing that hasn't been agreed upon is who started this whole problem in the first place. Was it the Bounty Hunters or the Corsairs? I think that question will never truly be answered. But casting the blame on one group is not what we should aim for, it is solving the current problem. Now because of all your inputs I will try my very best to convince and continue towards a better roleplay standard for all Corsairs, though there are many Corsairs that are surely better than me and some that have most likely already started to create a roleplaying conseus amongst this group.
However to Asgardian's first post. I must apologize for not being very clear on the part that you quoted from me. What I was trying to say was, is that I understand the Corsairs point of view on the whole "Bounty Hunters attacking Gamma issue" (that they should answer with all avilable forces) but that I still agree on the other side that perhaps a little common sense on making it hard for the enemy, but not impossible as Athenian put it, is a nice compromise that will satisfy both parties.
Generally though I must say, by simply asking nicely to the "capital noobs" to stand-by for assistance they will comply, if you promise them that they can help if more enemies arrive. You have to demand your request but at the same time promise something in return for that demand.
Towards your second post Asgardian, this is the kind of attitude that is counterproductive without sounding offensive. Because you single out one bad experience in Omicron Gamma and then use it as an argument to say that all Corsairs must improve their roleplay (by stating "From the Corsair side"). About your "fair fight" argument, I don't really find necessary to argue on that point. The whole fair fight issue, I see something that is up to the individuals in each case and its not something that is easily solved, however it is true that you can influence a large number of people by simply trying to convince them to why it's better to play with a sense of fairness.
To be honest, I don't have any idea why the BH can't have a jumphole running from O15 to Omicron Delta. To me it makes sense, but then maybe I haven't taken something into account.
I can understand the Corsairs-players' frustration. Gamma is very close to the BH stomping grounds. In addition, the Corsairs are allies with the Order (an alliance I have yet to understand, but an alliance all the same). So if the BH want to occasionally, i.e. once a month raid Gamma with a large assault group, it is withing rp. As a gesture of good will, it might be good idea to balance out the raiding group with the defenders. Then again, the balance issues tend to take care of themselves pretty quickly - players start to log on to their Corsair characters if they notice multiple Hunters in Gamma. So to all you Corsair players out there: I do try to respect you, nor do I want to carry a grudge against anyone over a game. But I don't really feel sorry for you either.
Another thing. If I'm flying through Gamma, I expect to be outnumbered and overwhelmed. On the same token, if a Corsair, Hessian, Outcast, etc. decides to patrol O-15, that pilot should expect to be thrashed if caught. Even more so in O-56.
Some of the heat would be removed from the Corsairs if the BH (the Guard in particular) had some other enemies. Game lore states that the BH are preoccupied with fighting the Order and Nomads. Yet the both of these opponents tend to make themselves very, very scarce when the BH show up.
I assume that this behavior has something to do with the ships many BH field (caps) but frankly, I'm not completely buying that line anymore. Many of us of the BH will take the other player's tactical situation into account. Even us, who pilot the big toys. Not all scenarios have to end with a kill message.
With any luck, we'll see more Order players out in the black, since they will be getting some nifty ships. Maybe that will revive some interest in the faction. The Keepers, well, they're a bit of an enigma to me.
' Wrote:only what I can say against sairs (not all of course) is their shipchoice... they have whole shipline except SHF but too much of them (for example in OPG more than 1/2 members) use nonsair ships... mostly ravens talons.
my question is why? ftpwn?
Mind trying to fly them yourself?
Decurion - uhh lf with less turning than BD VHF and way less than Eagle...
Centurion - uhh HF with less turning than Odin or Sabre.... and 8900 powerplant when all others have 9000
Titan - 1 pass missile/nuke/torp free bots for anyone
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
One of the official Corsair faction members just yesterday engaged me without a word, in a Raven's Talon. I don't want to hear about the 'Vanilla vulnerablility' excuse, either.. the guy was lobbing Paralyzers and Sidewinders at my Hammerhead.
I won't be pointing fingers specifically, it didn't bother me that much. I did manage to get away in one piece after all (with a 200k repair bill.. D:)
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is, when I see respectable behaviour from Corsairs, they will get my respect. Examples like the one above seem to happen alot.. Not to mention the Corsair gunboats and cruisers that have funsies in New York occasionally (Although not so often now.)
I think people wouldn't mind overwhelming odds in capital systems, if players actually existed outside of these systems. Liberty navy sit in new york, corsairs sit in gamma, etc. If there were a few corsairs that were regularly fooling around in the omegas to be fought by people who wanted balanced fights, people wouldn't mind so much being swamped in gamma. To me, the idea of being swamped in a capital system is fine, just so long as another option exists. But it doesn't seem like that's the case from what I've seen. not just corsairs though, as I said; this is something that afflicts most groups.

Personally, I'd prefer not to be swamped in whatever system it is, excluding Guard systems and Alaska of course. The reason the Navy usually sits in New York is because every time we try to leave to patrol another sector (California, Colorado etc), something always comes up along the tradelanes. Either its a gunboat or a falcatta or a sabre...you get the idea.
However, I don't think the same can be said for Gamma most of the time. Usually all I see if the HAF or OPG "training" there. Yet when I try to introduce roleplay and fair-fights, they simply overpower me and go back to "training". (Note: I'm just using the HAF and the OPG as examples, because I see them doing it quite frequently; the entire problem isn't just due to them).

You're seeing the same problem from two different sides and have two completely different opinions on it.
It is not about being a Corsair or Bounty Hunter. Most of the problems stated so far arise from simple ignorance and immaturity. And such disputes will never end till they cease, which is very unlikely to happen.
