Want to make HFs special?

Make all of them into "Jackdaw" style ships...

CD + Torp + lots of heavy guns.

Would make everything more interesting.

Pretty sure the Sabre, looking at it objectively, is complete junk and only got it's image because groups like XTF piloted them and killed everything that moved infront of their crosshair

XTF and Reavers.

But XTF were also skilled when it came to using Sunslayer/Starkiller


Now that's a great idea, Durandal.
Make the now "freed up turret class" for special gear, such as Sunslayer/Starkiller. And start reintroducing those to heavy fighters in their Torp Slot

4/3 or 5/2 loadouts are better anyway.

Edit: I think you have a weird obsession with the perceived problem of 7* shotguns that doesn't reflect their real effectiveness.

Occam razor would dictate that it is problem of the royally screwed weapon balance we have to endure with, not the turrets/ships/your least favourite tech combos.
