ahh - its like when Clover is called a "Treehugger" - hell, she lives on a rock in space and has only seen a tree maybe once or two times up close:)( but of course - then she hugged it vehemently !! )
about insults on both sides - personally i have not wittnessed any when i was there. - if it was a "real" war - thing we turn to ***** would be totally normal. - and things we don t even put in ***** anymore would be uttered much more about the other ones. ( and for that matter, it matters little if the enemy is white, yellow, black, red or green )
when it comes to RP insults - it should be made clear that insults are meant to be inRP, anger is RPed and being upset is also rather RPed.
if an insult could be taken as an insult directed at a player - the one that insulted should be asked to knock it off a little... but its not always easy to determine whats reasonable and whats not.
british humor can be quite - ahh.. strange ( monty phyton ) .... but japaneese humor is also well beyond the sanity horizon, accelerating. ... and i daresay, so are the insults.
point 1. it looks more like BAF is invading and KNF is defending meh something is wrong here (on KNF side of course)
point 2. since you and me are from 99% only kusarians (acording to point 1) in Leeds, you must be prepaird to be hated because everybody in BAF met you before in fight and probably died (because there is too many lolwut among this comunity and not many ppl admit defeat in fair fight... instead of that they start hate you and now I mean personaly you, not your chars)... If their insults are oriented on Kusarian nation instead of race (asians) I think its alright because there isnt any Kusarian nation in RL and nobody in game insult Japanese.
poin 3. Its hard to say something racistic when Kusarians are the only different race in sirius (ok there are nomies too:D). So we must invent different kind of insults... I always insult Queen herself or close relationships of BAF with Outcasts... you know... nation of drug dealers and drug adicts:)
point 4. Instead of those general anti-kusarian insults i hate personal insults like "Yoritoro sux blablabla, his skills are lame" there is no respect in that... especialy when author of that insult died many times by my own hand (its more awkward for insulter than for insulted imo... and maybe little bit OORP).
Sometimes it does get out of hand. I go into Bretonia to disrupt order (mainly hassle traders entering bretonia. I stop them, inform them of the war, the atrocities bretonia commits, and spread propaganda). When I see 4 BAF ships coming up on my radar, would it not be the natural thing for a Kusari "citizen" to avoid conflict? Yet, being shouted "coward" 20 times can get irratating. Sure, I enjoy a fight every once in awhile, but it's not what I want to do when I log onto discovery. My character tries to avoid fights, and if the other person, even if at a disadvantage roleplays well I'll let them go. I'm here for genuine encounters.
However, I remember a number of times where I do get racist remarks- slanty, noodlemuncher, and all the sorts. I think at the time it was 2 ensigns and a lieutenant, and I tried to make some remarks about the disorder in their "ranks" for ensigns to speak so freely. Of course the lieutenenat decided to pitch right in.
I don't take it personally, but it can get irratating, when there isn't much roleplay experiance in it. I get it, it's wartime, but and most encounters will end up in a PVP fight. I try not to just go into namecalling and PVP, but there have only been a few BAF who's characters who I have had good roleplay encounters with..
I guess I'll just have to get creative with my insults. I just hate to "fuel" the insult throwing, even if it is in character roleplay.
It's ok, I do expect it whenver I go into Bretonia.. It's just nice for someone to go above my expectations.

Not at all.. Things are witnessed on both sides obviously.. some members of BAF and KNF both have characters in both houses. It's more directed toward the opinion of the entire ordeal. We're here to construct a discussion about the entire topic.
My comments were not directed into a KNF/BAF flame thread, and please don't come in here and try to de-rail the topic..
Like it's been said it's a two way experiance, many differant factions and players do it, and it's more to seek community input. I'm sure not every trader entering Kusari enjoys being called Gaijin, and if people do object to it in Systems chat, I'll talk in private chat about it.
The discussion is, whether it enforces positive roleplay, or detracts from it.. I guess I didn't word my post properly. I believe that it does enforce roleplay to a certain point. When the entire conversation exists of insults, then I believe that it detracts. If it is used intermitedly throughout the conversation, then yes it becomes a powerful tool to display the characters resentment, or anger towards the opposite players faction.

Right. Last few posts made here is smelling on something that you could name flames, doesnt matter on who. I didnt said that start of this topic was pointed as flame or anything like that.
But, alright. Back to origional subject.
RP speach have it limitations. Calling Kusarian sushie, isnt bad, and calling Bretonian tea warrior or anything connected with tea, is more like joke, than insult.
Just make sure you dont cross some lines in RP speach, and start calling both sides under some rascial "nicks".
Someone earlyer mention calling you a coward when runing from supirior enemy(Like fighter vs destroyer, or when you face 3 to more enemies). That is something that I try to evade, becouse it is very low.
Zoink, moderators will be removing personal attacks. /zoink
I'd say, insults are allowed. if you feel someone has gone too far PM them //ooc and ask them nicely to tone it down a bit. If they say "sorry, didn't mean to offend you" then it wasn't intended to hurt. if they go "lulz, lern to RP n00b" then talk to their faction leader or the admins.
A few (or many?) have perhaps been a little confused about my initial post.
It is very important for me to tell you all, that I personally don't take offence to any in-roleplay insults that are carried through the Sirius systems. I can even tolerate slurs to a certain level.
But, what the point I was trying to make on my first post was that: If we focus too much on just being plain insultive regardless if in character, it might lead to negative consequences such as a developing personal dispute. This ultimately undermines roleplay and creates a bad atmosphere. And even when two sides have officially started a war, there must be left room for conversations other than just spouting every witty insult you can think off. There should exist some more deeper connections, it will in my opinion make the war more interesting, more creative and serve a higher purpose than it already is.
