Thing is when you fire that missile, and it hits... You get damage that drops with range... at maximum range it falls to about 0. So you have ships that take 60% damage and ships that take 20% damage from the same missile. Right now things were balanced with small blast radius in mind (around 100) so you take out individual turrets, not all at once... Also this is good for protecting fighters from giant blast radius, Imagine 2 cruise missiles with 400m blasts, hitting a cap near a fighter... Insta death for the fighter. Plain and simple... It can be done, but that really hurts.

then the Battleship missile is basicly wasted...they fly too slow...even Battleship primary can shoot them down without a breaking a sweat..make them an Anti-GB missile..goes faster..turns faster...

These missles fail, The AF missels are 9999X better...
They dont have a 100% damage rate, like a missle this slow should.
If its a Ballistic missle, It should have a blast radius equal to 10k
THATS a real ballistsc missle.

This man, balancing genius, since we all are obviously battleship fliers and don't realise 10k radius would be abused.

10K can be, for all we know.. 10 thousand kilometers. >.>

It is not realistic to interpret the game how you see fit for your interests.

What you want basically is (?), to have a ballistic missile that will wipe out anything caught in it's 10K! range, including caps and small craft alike.

Think before you type please..

cruiser and battleships arent supposed to be used with the arcade game-style in mind: "MASHDABUTTONS, SCOREAKILL...KAYOOOOOOOOO!!!"

They are more tactical than spam-win missiles now.

I think missiles should do 0 shield damage.
And I'd even go that far to say the same for fighter missiles, except paralyzers.

So, agreed with Jinx. Don't waste your missiles on shield.

BTW, me and hribek experimented with large blast radius missiles, effects on caps were poor, shields wouldn't be damaged even with 500m blast radius... only thing we could acomplish was an often death to the bomber who fired the missile... (in this case a nova torp)

Then again imagine pirating in battleships would be allowed (now that they don't have CD's) A single well aimed bs missile hitting say a luxury liner, massive massive damage...

Anti GB missiles, were tried, thing is whatever can hit a GB can also hit bombers... and since bombers have 5x less hull 13x less shield, they get "raped".... I use the tearm looseley.

I wonder how would cap warfere look if caps got 10x more hitpoints, and you could only disable them by striping them of weapons... then the current missiles would be uberpretty...
