Gents, I would be looking to your routers, or anti-virus. Tracerts to your respective IPs are stopping at your local areas. Dec, I have no idea what your friends problem is ...
The server does not save slots for admins either, maximum allowed playing on the server is 198, and not
200 as the list implies.

I have shutdown my antivirus and firewall completely.there is no difference.Still can't connect.
router is not the problem because I connect to discovery USA fine.
Admin Cannon helped me last time when I had exactly the same problem with 4.84.
He said that he did some adjustments to server and that it should be better fo me.And it was.
After that everything worked ok.Offcourse, until 4.85 camed.
I asked him again can he do that thing again, but so far after 5 days he didn't answer.
Oh,also he needed my char names for doing those adjustments.
Maybe that will help...

Attempting to get friend onto the mod but she's running 64x Vista.
She can see the server but she cannot connect to it.
I have tried: Running as admin, opened the ports on router, disabled the firewall, killed her anti-virus software.

I'm just going to get her a 64 XP install. bloody laptops.

That's exactly what was happening to me - still after uninstalling AVG, going through all the outlined steps, DMZing my system via my router (making it completely wide open for the 'net to see).

Rebooted, loaded into XP, installed Freelancer, FLMM and the mod and Bob's your uncle I was in game.

Pip, pip, cheerio!

Yeah, I read over what you did and decided playing around with the anti-virus wasn't worth my time. Besides, its not as though she's going to lose anything switching to Xp, eh?
We'll have to see what happens when Windows 7 is released, that is going to be a nightmare.

I've seeing some patterns in helping people and dealing with my own technical issues. It seems like anything can go wrong, even your internet connection if the game feels like it when you install it.

Here are more suggestions after you've tried the above mentioned link:

Try doing some trouble shooting on your end, cuz if a trace route is dying at your location, most likely the server is dropping you cuz your computer/connection is not responding to the server when it wants to see if the connection is alive.

I would:(test your connection after trying each of these)

Directly connect to the modem, taking the router out of the equation.

Make sure windows security stuff is off. Like windows Firewall.

Check your computer for mal-ware, like tracking cookies and such, they can interrupt connection when sending info on you to their company. (you can use Spybot S&D and/or LavaSofts Ad-Aware. Both are free and good at what they promise to do.)

Uninstall your antivirus program completely. Make sure it doesn't have a firewall program as well, like if you bought the AntiVirus suit.

Uninstal FLMM, FL, reinstall, re-Apply mod.

Check to see if this is happening on all your accounts(if you have more than 1).

Extreme case: Create a second windows login with admin rights and install the game, with nothing else running, and turn off most of your windows services you don't need(like print spooler when you don't have a printer, AntiVirus windows services, etc.)

Good luck.

P.S. Don't mess with your windows services if you don't know what they do please. Google is your best friend if you have any questions about one.

Thank you Wicked ... The server is not quite smart enough to pick individuals to block on a whim. We can do
so much here, and give you the information we have so you can act on it.
To the others, if our tracert says it is getting to your local area, and failing to connect, please believe me ...
It is your end. There is little else we can do with the software, honestly.

I had the problem not being able to connect, too. Although I could see the server in the login-window.
It was my router. I checked the router firewall log and found a lot of entries saying that freelancer could not connect because it could not open ports by itself.
So after activating UPnP, Freelancer now can open and close ports like crazy and it works fine since.
I had those connection problems only after installing the Beta. Before that, Freelancer worked fine with the ports I kept open for it.

Where exactly I can find this router firewall?and what do to exactly with them?

Well, that depends on the router. You have to have some kind of router-desktop where you put in your connection parameters. There you might be able to activate UPnP. I am no expert for routers, I only know mine quite well. It's a Fritz!Box.
