[+]Rule 4.7 - Prohibition on cruisers and battleships attacking transports
Finally, after extensive internal discussion it has been decided to amend rule 4.7, which currently prohibits cruisers and above attacking transports. The rule previously read as follows:

Quote:
4.7.1 Cruisers and Battleships may not attack transports except in the following situations:
  • Players attacking transports in self defense.
  • In defense of allied ships that were engaged by a hostile transport.
  • Hostile unlawful or quasi-lawful transports armed with cruise disruptors.
4.7.2 Additionally, transports meeting any of the above criteria are exempt from specific protections granted by an attacking player’s ID.

Abuse of the immunity granted by rule 4.7.1 may be treated as metagaming.

The prohibition on cruisers and battleships has been removed. Rule 4.7 will now read as follows:

Quote:
4.7 Unlawful and quasi-lawful Transports mounting equipment in a Cruise Disruptor slot are not counted as Transports for the purposes of ID attack lines.

This wording preserves the relevant Transport exemptions carved out by 4.7.2. These changes are intended to reduce the complexity of the rules and prevent arbitrary barriers to organic gameplay.

Hey just to clarify this for me, is it any transports carrying equipment in the CD slot can be attacked by cruisers and battleships. For transport that have no CD are still protected from being attacked by cruisers and battleships?

Also good changes on the other rules, might have to make some convoys more often now.

This appears to be quite literally the opposite of protecting traders. Please read before complaining.

Retired, permanently.

Capital ships can now attack transports so long as their ID allows them to. The revised rule 4.7 removes additional transport protections under certain circumstances.

For example, some IDs will have pairings of lines like the below:

- Can attack any ships within their Zone of Influence, except transports.
- Can demand cargo and credits from any ship within their Zone of Influence, and attack them if they do not comply.

This would normally mean that the above ID could only attack transports after a reasonable demand had been issued. Despite this, if the transport engages the revised rule 4.7, the "except transports" part of that first clause stops applying - the transport can then be attacked like a normal combat ship.

Does this mean

"[Unlawful] and [quasi-lawful Transports mounting equipment in a Cruise Disruptor slot]"?

As in, does the CD slot apply to only quasi-lawfuls and unlawful transports are combat targets regardless of equipment, or does the CD slot apply to both?

Just a quickie.

Had an encounter a few days ago before the rules were changed.

I was flying my 5th character in a Guardian. Intercepted a Salvager with a hold full of slaves.I think it had a zoner or junker ID will have to check my screen shots. The pilot was told to stop his engines and drop the cargo 5 times. He did not reply to the inRP requests. Although he wasn't afk cause he kept trying to reach trade lanes. Lib BCs said to the fighters to open fire (cause BCs couldn't fire on transports.) opened fire on the ship and it returned fire dropping my shields. BCs engaged after the fighters had taken fire. Ship was destroyed and the owner was angry because BCs engaged him.

Now since this was before the rule changed who was in the wrong?

*He had been intercepted by liberty authorities.
* Told he was carrying contraband and was to stop. 5 times
* did not reply to in RP hails. (he was not AFK)
* he continued to try Evade us going for Lanes.
* fighters opened fire
* he returned fire
* LABCs engaged.

CD slot requirement applies to both.

The Outcast ID currently has lines saying:

- Can attack any ships within their Zone of Influence, except transports.
- Can demand cargo and credits from any ship within their Zone of Influence, and attack them if they do not comply.

You can attack a Shetland in a cruiser only after making a reasonable piracy demand, and they refuse to comply. On the other hand, if you happened across a Corsair Raba with a cruise disruptor mounted, you would be able to treat it as a combat target because the "except transports" line wouldn't apply to the first clause.

Cruisers and battleships are treated no different from any other ship class in respect of transports under the current rules.
