i think some player will use it to be friendly to whole sirius

so the lock all reps

for example

a LN pilot use the lockrep to hold his rep with the navy
then he shoot some NPC's and become better and better with the LR
then he is completly green with the LN and the LR... then he move to the corsair, to outcasts or what ever

' Wrote:Yeah, I'm really not a big fan of this. I think people should be able to have unique IFF's with any faction ID, as they may have RP that would make them friendly with the traditionally neutral, etc. That and i think this would be somewhat of a pain to implement while keeping everyone happy. If you want to implement something like it I request that the ID-based rep-fix be at the users discretion by using an FLHook command like /IDrepfix .

Being friendly with a faction gives you practically zero advantage over being neutral (at least in terms of your repsheet), so that shouldn't be an issue...and I highly doubt that anyone is going to end up with landing rights on an enemy base, no matter how good their RP...

What if...

Your Zoner rep is totally neutral. You lock it. Then you go off and bribe them 20 times in a row. Now, your Zoner rep stays neutral of course, but many faction reputations around Sirius are also increased for you when you bribe the Zoners. This way you could be green with everyone (well... not everyone). Sure, this might not be totally bad, but stiiiiill...

Your Outcast rep is totally neutral. You lock that too. You bribe them 20 times. *ding* Now you got Outcast Guard rep (Unless some other allied faction gets maxed out first, say Hessians or GC). Now you go around Sirius and do that for every faction. *ding ding ding* Now you're friendly with everyone, including Guards (allright... almost everyone). A PowerTraders dream indeed.

You only need a bukkit(they stole mah bukkit!)load of Credits to do this, and some time I guess, but the abuse is still there.

Thoughts?

I like the idea. To avoid abouse you could make it so if you shoot someone it drops their rep even if all are locked. It's not the people your shooting that is the problem it's their allies rep "raising" that is. Make it so the lock only affects the raising of the allies of who your killing's rep. This would eliminate the problem of "making everyone green", while avoiding the corsairs going green for killing hessians for instance.

Would this work?

No, with the current gameplay that means you could exploit many things... Like harvesting friendly caps with your battleship. They would not engage you due to "red via CD" fix... and you would not loose rep due to /replock.... And countless other friendly fire harvesting things...

Donate to the Poor Pilot's Fundation via Sirius Bank /givecash GreenHawk 1000000 now, and support poor pilots sirius wide!

Yes, well I said etc, to include circumstances I couldn't think of. I think the rep system is an integral part of the game and it should not be altered so drastically. Also as Jure said about replocking this would allow the harvesting of friendly pilots for profit, and dat's bad.

If a replock was implemented, youd be limited in what you could lock... Not only that but youd have an OORP Repsheet which would be sanctionable should you come across a player with a patrol who should open fire on you.

That fix could use a bit of fine tuning.
The not losing rep because of replock issue is why i suggested simply copying the /droprep command but making it set your affiliated faction to 1.00 (Full 10bars green). But meh, just about anything can be abused... <strike>Except for trading and mining since they're nerfed beyond abuse.</strike> Thats for another thread, another day.

Actually, it would be impossible to do that because it only prevents you from becoming friendlier with locked faction.

Ex. Become Hostile to the LN, shoot a bunch of LRs, now your hostile to both factions instead of you LN rep improving.

Meh, it's been stated on the first page at least three times that the command will only stop you from getting friendlier. It till still allow you to get more hostile to factions therefore preventing any possible abuse. :rtfm:

Anyway, Asbestos has a good point but I believe that the bribe itself only rises the reputation of the faction you're bribing and after that is done the rest of the factions get lowered/risen depending on their diplomatic status towards the bribed faction. So, if your reputation is locked, even if you bribe it, it will not affect the reputation of other factions.
