Very high resolution and widescreen gaming for Freelancer (Write up)

EDIT: you HAVE to start a new game after you edit theese. or else it looks like the .ini's are beeing overwritten.

I'm assuming that this is for OpenSP only, not the RP server. Am i correct?

No it has nothing to do with rp or pvp server modes.

here you go. The image is not cut off by me, the menus them selves are screwed up.



So when you click on the icon you come up to this screen. Simply click new game here.



From there you will be brought to this screen



From here you can press F1 and exit the game to menu and then everything will be fixed.. All the menus will be aligned correctly just like they were originally but of course resolution 1920x1080!!!

What I have currently is very close to this.
Except for that bug I mentioned in the contacts window - it appears that you've solved it, but do this test and confirm...

On the RP server, go near a populated area a station with 1 or 2 bases + planet so that you have multiple contacts on your contacts list. Wait for atleast 1 player controlled char to show up.
Now, click on a base name, then the player char and then another base. This seems to change my font for the player char, it becomes smaller - almost like the font changes when you select a player and it doesn't revert back. I've also noticed that it is more common when there are a few hostile contacts on your list.
I usually have this problem with my LSF char, since Junkers are a bit hostile to me and my contact list becomes screwed up after I meet one.

The 2nd issue is the Box lists on the screen, since they're now somewhat in the middle, it's very annoying during PVP. I was looking for a way to move this to the sides, but no luck. Seems you have the same issue in your screens also.

I just purchased a nice HD screen. My video card supports it all which is great but freelancer does not :crazy:

I will try to mess with the files to fix this up. I have gotten the resolution so far and i gotta say the graphics and the rendering look amazing but the menus are in bad alignment. If i ever do get this working. My next question is will it be a problem with our discovery servers and the auto ban anti cheating system? I mean i dont want to get banned for trying to play HD here.

Ps i saw the 1680 x 1050 tutorial and that does not work for me (screen doesnt support that resolution). I'm looking for HD here.

If i ever do figure it out, perhaps we can make it as an option during the installation of discovery?

Although I dont need any of this personally, very good work on this thread sirs. Once it is complete I ask you request for this topic (or perhaps a new topic stating the specific instructions on how to do this) be pinned so others can find this very useful information easily.

Its not really that hard.. its just a lot of turn on turn off turn on turn off turn on turn off :cool:

I have gotten it so far. The only last bug i'm currently working on fixing is when playing online the real life players (you and me) show up with fairly big names. Like the names show a bit over sized.
