Says the guy named daisy who flirts with his enemies. Tarror!!!!!11!

The Xenos, the XA and the players therin have been to the rodeo before Dab, we each enjoy playing our own styles. Were running from myself, who was serious once and then went into a coma because of it, to Laowai who presents a possibly insane yet decidedly merciless front.

Most of us enjoy enjoy a chuckle, trade a few barbs and then proceed to rip you to shreds as soon as youve fallen into our web. We demand all the cargo every time and reward lip with burning hulls.

While Ive not been dissatisfied with the manner by which the Xenos conduct themselves personally. Weve attracted some of the coolest folks that disco has to offer despite being, apparently, silly. Im of a mind thats clue enough to suggest that were doing something right.

Still, something to consider. *ponders*

*Nods, and thanks Dusty for the recognition*
Well, why would you leave me out? I am the most awesome person in the community.

*Head swells, explodes, and ego escapes into the atmosphere*

I like to think that I instilled at least a little terror. If not in my personality then at least when I am bearing down on you in an Eagle hungry for bloodshed.

Hmm.... I've forgotten what eagles look like actually.... They've probably changed it with this 4.85 rubbish. I tell you one day I will get back on the server again. Then where will you run, eh? Oh yeah, out of Liberty, then I can't follow you.
Eh heh.

I'm not saying XA is a bad faction or that what they do is bad. These are nothing more than my opinions. In only my opinion, and no further, I dislike the Yeehawing XA does. Obviously some people are different and enjoy the silly side of the Xenos. I'm not fully perfect in that myself, as you so skillfully recounted what I told you about my name. My Xenos (who is a female character Dusty..) is named Daisy Fey and flirts with her enemies (so long as they aren't close enough to know my tag, misdirection can work wonders at times). In my opinion, doing that is not so bad, taking into account my character. She is a rather harmless girl of 20 who got into the Xenos because she didn't have much of a choice.. The whole 'flirting' business is just a joke that, in my opinion, works for the character without going outside the bounds of what I see as 'normal' Xenos behavior. They are humans too.

Nothing is wrong with a silly laugh, especially when it helps with faction recruitment and activity. I just have different views than you. You'd see the same with Outcasts; many regard Nomads as holy spirits for example, while another large group, of which I'm part, have characters that respect them, but are also distrustful of them. I'm simply voicing my side on this, and why I think people treat Xenos a certain way. You can't deny that player's actions dictate as much or more than the NPC faction's history in how they are viewed by others.

The next day: Dab, after ignoring every constructive piece of advice that you gave and, in offhand fashion, distracting the core of your message with silly remarks (as is my custom, and is not to my credit) I spent a considerable amount of time thinking over your point.

The XA message dump is in the pits, the faction has gone rather silent and the Yeeehaws do occasionally feel as stale as the EJECTING that became the brand of the LPI of old Prior to it going inert for half a year.

I know Ive had little incentive to partake in any sincere zNo ti3m for a long while.

Theres a strong streak of hard reality to the idea that the general ethos of the Xenos could be trending towards more hur dur than towards the other extreme: That of grim men and women who have no hope, no future, no chance and little holding the ships that embody their burning desire to strike back at a system that has casually tossed them aside for centuries save their fury and a roll of duct tape.

I used to spend hours proselytizing in Liberty before wnadering off unfought and RP'd out.

Note Used to.

I can't seem to do that anymore, the yeehawing and endless Manhattan flybys have killed some of the terror of being a Xeno, and the Rheinland Liberty embargo has killed off Hudson and Bering.

That makes it very hard to actually be terrifying, I remeber Coachy and Copeerhead blunting trade in Bering with nothing more than a pair of really buggy preagles. Them was good times. Alas cargo interdiction ahs taken a back seat to PvP and that makes being a Xeno a lot less fun in my eyes. Xenos, like Rogues, should pick their fights wisely not just run headlong into combat at the first sign of a lawful tag. It just doesn't feel right for an underfunded under organised bunch of ex blue collar workers to be wanting to go toe to toe with a much superior warmachine that could, in theory, rip us to shreds. Especially after nearly being hounded out of Colorado by the LPI only a few years ago.

Oh, as to the Gaians, the only thing I really know about them anymore is that they cant, apparently, get enough of Kusari and want to haz luvvles with them all day every day.

Edit: Ahhh, the good ol Xeno days. Clueless, hopeless, completely outclassed in terrible ships. We were IC to the core.

Edit 2: Del, Hudson and Bering aren't nearly as dead as you might think. From my LPI experience I can assure you that we get traders through there all the time regardless. Though I hardly ever made it out there, on account of it being in the middle of nowhere.

Honestly, I've got to agree with Del and Dusty. I'm still in the XA, but I don't use those characters nearly as often as I used to. Honestly, it's not quite as fun anymore. Worst part is, I don't know exactly where it went wrong.

Then it seems time for the old school Xenos to start to lead the way again. I'll be logging coachy for some good old fashioned cargo interdiction in the days to come I expect company, let's show these damn slack jawed yokels what being a Xeno is all about.

Edit: Note to traders you may get past alive if you're willing to spend some time listening to the whys and wherefores of our glorious movement.

*Cough* *Rolls eyes to the earlier post*

And then I remember that in this particular forum nobody cares about who I am or what I say.
That's put me in a sad mood. If anyone should want to know where I am, I'll be in the XA forums, denying the best join requests.

I Yeehaw as little as possible, if not never at all. I find it is bad for my character, for the faction, for the roleplay, and thus for the community in general. Sure, there will be Yeehawers in a faction, that is evident. But if you have a faction of Yeehawers- that is where you know your faction has gone wrong.

' Wrote:You can't deny that player's actions dictate as much or more than the NPC faction's history in how they are viewed by others.

So true, unfortunately. Maybe we have some lacking roleplay in the Xenos, I don't know. Maybe it a joke that got out of hand. All I know is, when the Keepers start making threats in system chat, your first thoughts aren't something along the lines of "How unlucky, I jelly AND the colour blue!" You should be more worried about being blasted into oblivion.

And all this while I've been unable to play? Aww... thanks for making me feel needed!

I'd say (at least in my case it would be) it was the awful reputation we gained from the less... serious? among us. I'm not saying that being overly serious is a good thing or that not being serious is a bad thing. But when you are roleplaying a murderous 'terrorist' organisation you shouldn't be sat inside your Bowex transport with your cost-effective Transport 2 Turrets thinking "lol omg zeeners gonna get me... man the anti- hick turrets rofl, they may start throwing stones!" You should be thinking "Oh s**t, are they coming from the left? How many are there, will they single me out? I hope they don't have bombers, Jesus, these guys sound like they are going to decomission me, I hope I didn't make this trip to get blasted back to New London..."

I fully agree Del, and I'd join you if I could, which I shall in a few months, assuming you are still going by then. But for God's sake man, don't stick to cargo interdiction, while that is a key practise , use your imagination! I think we need to alter our image, and maybe a decent show will be just the thing for that. I think it's time we reminded Liberty what fear feels like.

Maybe the XA needs a kick up the rear, as well as some promotion and possibly some material on the forum about how we operate, and how Yeehawing across Manhattan every single bleeding time you are on the fricking server is not conducive to Terrorist activity.

And moving onto the whole terror aspect, I agree there as well. I know that Xeno players used to scare the crap out of players. Especially new ones trying to scratch together their future in the Colorado Fields.
