' Wrote:You're in a heavy gunboat. Unfortunately for you, that means you aren't as effective against fighters and bombers than the smaller gunboats. If gunboat missiles were boosted for corsair and rheinland gunboats to easily combat bombers in their blind spots, then imagine how better they'd be on smaller gunboats like the Gunships and the Kusari gunboat.
A six turret, 95k hull, 6.500 agility gunboat is the heavy sort? When you're put up against the Bretonian variant it really doesn't feel that way. The Kusari gunboat has the same armour, a 6.667 agi rating, a main gun and five turrets.
Missiles shouldn't need a manuverability buff to be more accurate against fighters and bombers... they are not a fire and forget weapon and never should be. If all you need to do is hit the missile button and watch fighters go boom, how is that fun for the fighters? Honestly you might as well just be killing npcs...
There's nothing to say missiles should have a high hit percentage, in fact I think it should be low to discourage over use of missiles. And it seems intentional to me that smallre gunboats spend more of their energy firing missiles... you don't want them to be too powerful...
@ missiles, I'm afraid upping turning any more would produce the "sidewinder effect" - if you remember 4.84 when firing sidewinder on a fleeing enemy it turned around the target instead of hitting it, while the firestalker with "worse" turning was hitting just fine.
@Gunboats, there are these people saying that "gunboat suck" some of them were flying them since 4.84 or before, and most of them heve never really flown them at all.
Then I have for example the RHA gunboat pilots, which started flying them just recently, decimating the opposition with them.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
Meh:PGunboats are of limited use at best right now... But that limited use is exactly what they are intended for. No they can't kill cruisers and battleships kill them in 30 seconds....
They can however pretty much anhilate any fighter or bomber 1 on 1 with the new +10 speed they can also flee superior ships. Have more mobility than say transports, thus kill those quite well.
The trouble I see is pilot skill. Much like fighters require skill to fly properly so do capital ships (gunboats included). So often I spot very newb mistakes done by captains of such ships. And once a gap in skill is spoted a skilled opponent will kill you easily.
Gunboat missiles, right now are to good it seems. Especialy on Monstar's ship. They are very hard to CD, And they hit plenty enough if you use them at the right time.
No need to make them better. They are by far the best anti-fighter missiles avaliable to any ship.

I am having trouble against Missiles in my bombers.
In 4.84, I could evade GB missiles verry easy, without even using the CMs.
The Missiles are better in tracking now and if I dont use the CM to drop them off my tail, its over.
In addition to that, it takes 3 or even more CMs to shake a single GB missile.
You are dropping 70 CMs in no time.
Just spam the missiles and you will win, since the bomber runs out of CMs.
Thats what I can tell about the GB missiles now.
Even with my RM Gunboat, the missile is the best anti bomber weapon available. Deadly if you fire it heads on, since the enemy cant drop 3 CMs until the missile impacts.
experience with GB missiles vary very much from ship to ship. - we cannot say "gunboat missiles are bad" anymore, cause they are different on a small gunboat compared to a large gunboat..
monstars GB missiles don t need to be taken into consideration, cause they are "unbalanced" anyway - cause their energyconsumption is balanced for gunboats, not battlecruisers - but since he is only one single player - its no big deal.
a gunship can only fire two missiles ( in theory ) - ... and only if its using kusari missiles ( 170.000 energy ) ... in theory it can also fire two basic missiles ( 200.000 ) - but since the gunship only has 400.000 energy - thats rather of theoretical use than practical use.
a large gunboat however has 600.000 energy - can can make a much better use of missiles. - that is also meant to balance the more agile gunships that make a better use of guns - and the slower gunboats that cannot out turn fighters - but can use missiles that CAN outturn fighters a little better.
' Wrote:Mmmh.. I'm not sure they need that, but I would like to see power consumption reduced. I'm not saying lower it to 4.84 levels, but it does seem awful high at the minute.
i agree with that one. another point you need to know when to shoot to hit the target
