We've been in Omicron Delta since the end of the ZDF fighting the Nomad threat. We decided to head to a Freeport that I haven't frequented very much: Freeport 14.
We powered up our jump drive but some kind of computing error sent us to a different system nearby: Vespucci. I'd only been in the system once but seeing the destruction wrought by the skirmishes between Liberty and the Insurgency was a sight to behold. Just more evidence of the Houses arrogance. Just seeing the wreckage of those ships brought back the memories of the ZDF being taken down. For only a moment, I considered giving up on my newfound quest of fighting the Nomads and going back to my plans of destroying the Houses for what they'd done. But as quick as it came, it passed and we continued our journey to Inverness.
We arrived just as another pilot undocked, a Freelancer, who was running sorties out of the Freeport there to take care of the Nomad menace in the system. We flew a few sorties with them before they disappeared after docking a few fights later. The ships we had shot down previously were Gunboats and they were in a small snubcraft, so we guessed that it had spooked him and he decided to hunker down in the Freeport there. We only hoped that the power of those Nomad vessels hadn't scared him into inaction. While the Freeport in system had many sorties to run, they appeared to have everything well in hand, so we powered up our drive and jumped back to Omicron Delta.
There, we finished up our final retrofit of the C-Cheshire and followed through with the rename of the ship. A name the entire crew had agreed on and better suited our mission out in the dangerous Omicrons. The C-Cheshire had been selected as the name of the ship when it was meant to be used for the Zoner Defense Fleet. The ZDF was now defunct so it was only right that the ship be renamed as well to serve as a rebirth as it were. The ship was renamed to the Eventide; the moment where a star begins to set on the horizon of a planet just before darkness. Our slogan is "We are the firewall between the darkness and Sirius." and we intend to live by that slogan.
We will be continuing to update our logs as well as updating the Order Overwatch from a recent communication with any strange events out in the Omicrons or where ever we happen to be located at. We will continue our vigil over the Omicrons and will do our damndest to ensure that the Nomads and their allies do not gain a foothold to begin their conquest of humanity. We will fight until our last gun and will even use the very ship itself to destroy them if necessary.
This will be the final personal log entry that I write here. This log system will be archived following this log and a new one will take its place. This has been a place for me to vent my feelings, my thoughts, and other things that I'm ashamed of. In time, I hope that I'll look back and realize that I made the right decision in the path I've chosen. If not, then perhaps I'll learn from this.
