Unfortunately, certain devs and staff pushed away Zentor who had a great fix in mind for abandoned/forgotten POBs. Yup, you know who you are and nope, I will not let this die as long as I have fingers to type.

Exponentially increase the rate of decay based on certain milestones from the % of base health remaining while the needs of active POBs decrease. It was a great system to get rid of the spam and trash while allowing active POB owners to remain happy with their work.

To answer your question, SnakThree. For me, it's the tangible difference that I see. Sure we see credits rise and fall as we purchase and sell commodities. But knowing that the food rations in my cargo is going to my crew on my station or that the reinforce alloy I'm delivering will go to an equipment build or to station repairs. POBs enable more RP options for us who cannot physically keep up with the rigors of PVP such as contracts.

There are a variety of reasons why people build POBs as they have posted before me. For me, I like seeing the numbers, doing the math, and knowing that my deliveries make a real tangible difference.

It ain't about what you are capable of, it's about what you're willing to do.

PoBs in current state are hard to be dead and easy to be restored. Where is no balance in this when siege. I am aware that devs will reduce shield % absorb or HP, but I hope that decayed pobs, such as Omega-3 Clusterfuck which was about to decay is now at full hp, because someone don't want to let it go and free some space around the Freeport-1 for example.

In a positive I can only say that I had Novgorod station and just storaged my 20k of Pilots. Now they're on my Transport, which is not cool, but that is all positive I can say about it.

In a negative I can say they're:
- Annoying.
-Timekilling
-Requires money
-Have a fear to lose it
- Provides powertraders that doesn't want to pay.
-Makes people to kill them.

I wish they will be nerfed soon, so we could have less PoBs around.

The Coalition was not so active, as far as I'm concerned, a faction can stay active and maintain it's territory, or most of it would go to those who are. Many factions would benefit from that, and it would serve to keep the economy constantly stimulated.

this paragraph is also all about to nothing, because the pob in 55 is a one big joke, BoP players don't even want to admit. Imagine a Rouge Base in front of Manhattan? Same vibe.

It's fun to chill and keep my tamagocchi alive while semi afk. And farm time.

It's also cool for RP- e.g. when we created and built up 46th we made Salt Lake our HQ and a home of the fleet, even the RP threads are "from there" - it's cool to have faction RP bases, space for RP commodities - gives you actual sense of ownership and faction identity rather than just sayin "ima on XYZ solar, trust me bro"

Drawback is siege system, and somehow ores and such- I never used PoBs for those lol

Off topic.

READ the topic. It says... "Why do you like player owned bases?". The command word is "like". Please delete your two negative posts and start your own thread.

I remember the RP and communication between my startup company, ConEx and FLG. The corporate honcho was so oblivious to the schemes of the FLG. Creating that story and imagining the scene when the ConEx Stork landed to deliver the food rations was some very good RP. Not made possible, but made better by POBs

It ain't about what you are capable of, it's about what you're willing to do.

I like PoBs (and their owners) because I can pirate them.
In all seriousness, I like how they can be used to generate RP even from your standard silent powertrader 5ker people because the moment you just remotely "touch" their pets, they wake up. Very cool to make RP exist.
Edit: And of course to RP with people who usually RP already, duh.

I make one positive post and one post explaining, why it is not a cool idea.

I see it as a good bold move, and really, a Rouge Base +20k behind Manhattan is not so unrealistic. Some may want it to be a joke, but to me that's just another way of fighting without fighting. It's a perfect example of factions showing they want meaningful ways of growing, being willing to build and fight for it. It takes a lot of work to make any actual progress here.
