Tell us your story. I was born on Planet Malta to a mother who was a skilled combat pilot, and a father who was a cardamine smuggler. From a young age, I was raised with a clear understanding of both the skies and the underworld. My upbringing taught me the importance of survival within the vastness of space, and, over time, I absorbed both my mother’s piloting skills and my father’s intelligence.
Before becoming a skilled combat pilot, my mother was thrust into the chaos of constant skirmishes with the Corsairs. She started off as a simple trader, but when her convoy was ambushed by Corsair raiders, she was forced to fight for her life. The experience left her scarred but also sharpened her instincts and piloting skills. Over the years, she became a master at navigating hostile space, learning how to outmaneuver and outsmart Corsair fighters in the most intense of battles. Her ability to think on her feet, combined with a deep understanding of combat strategy, turned her into one of the most respected pilots in the Maltese ranks. While my training was mostly informal, it was thorough, and I became proficient with a variety of spacecraft. My upbringing has taught me to be adaptable, resourceful, and ready to face danger head-on.
A few years ago, I was escorting my father’s convoy through the Tau-23 system when we encountered a group of more than half a dozen Bounty Hunters. They weren’t after a particular target, they were just looking for a way to make some credits. They saw our convoy, consisting of four transports and three fighter vessels, as an easy opportunity, and what should’ve been a routine run quickly turned into a high-speed pursuit. My mother came to assist after my dad had sent an emergency signal to Malta. Her and my dad's ship were badly damaged and they barely survived.
As I navigated through an asteroid field to escape, I realized something important: The risks of the life we lead are immense, but so is the power and influence that comes with controlling it.
Some time passed and I gained a lot of experience flying patrols and convoys together with my parents but also withing other groups.
My parents are now at a point of age where space is nothing of importance anymore. However, that doesn't apply for me and I'm more eager than ever to be more involved. After her passing, my mother left her prized Sabre for me to continue her legacy, which honours me more than anything.

The past is distant to me, but I will tell you what I remember. Staying on Malta never made me content. I remember a time with little friends for company, stuck with a family more concerned with their own petty interests. Why be blessed with Cardamine just to be bound to Malta forever? I learnt to fly, to explore all of Sirius. Of course, practical needs had to be met. When I was younger, I stole immense wealth from Liberty. I remember flying many times with the Rogue dogs and Hacker lackeys against their Navy, memories I remember with fondness but little satisfaction. The thrill of combat with the Orange Dream was exhilarating. When you live long enough doing this, you feel invincible.
When I made enough credits, I left, and travelled all over Sirius, seeking combat with more interesting foes. I remember the brutality of the Corsairs, the cunning of the GMG, the zeal of the Coalition, they were all such a joy to do combat with. Then they arrived, our new neighbor; Gallia. They swept through our Cardamine routes, an unprecedented force to reckon with, and a boundless source of joy for me; more battle with their immense Navy. I remember fighting them for the longest time, even alongside the pathetic Bretonians who begged us for help, and turned on Malta when it was no longer convenient. It was regrettable the war ended, I remember a lack of direction shortly after. The stripping away of my constant source of thrill is something that is not easy for me to replace, perhaps the highs of combat that I achieved are no longer possible to exceed.
I ventured all over Sirius, only to return close to home to do battle with the Corsairs. There have been many good battles, but this time, I seem to no longer find satisfaction in them. Our youths are extended by the Orange Dream, but it seems that to have accomplished everything a youth could want also brings the curse of emptiness. Your Famiglia seems ambitious, perhaps that is why it is of interest to me.
Why do you wish to join La Famiglia di Medici? I have no need for credits. It is also not my place to judge what is good for Malta, I do not pretend to fight for noble goals, or to know what they are. But I believe there is demand for my services. There will always be those like you to point those like me in the right direction. Your ambition for my purpose.

I apologize for the delay in processing. Signore di Cardi, we're sure you can make your mother proud with your Sabre, and we will do our best to put you in a position to do so. Signora Zeni, your motives are... well... concerning. But we need the pilots, and our younger members could likely take a hand from your combat experience. After careful review we have decided to bring you on board.

Tell us your story. I lived nearly my entire life on Malta. From when I was young, all I remember is fighting. Fighting for food, fighting to get stronger, and fighting to survive. My parents died early. They were both Cardamine smugglers, and died due to some accident. I can't even remember their faces. I was the only son, and with no other family, I became an orphan trying to survive. I was running out of luck until I met Toni.
Toni was an old man, but still skillful enough to trounce me good. Used to be a really good pilot apparently. He taught me everything I know about our history, piloting, and fighting; though he often told me I had no talent for flying. Old man was right. I never admitted to it though. Bitter and frustrated, I stubbornly kept at it. Probably spent an unfathomable amount of time in the simulator than I care to admit. At the very least, now I can hold my own in a dogfight.
After turning 19, I managed to get my first win on Toni in the simulator. To be honest, I think he let me win, but it could be his age catching up. Next time, I'll get a genuine win. As a reward, I inherited his old Sabre. Old thing was outdated and dusty as hell, but surprisingly reliable. The Rapier model just doesn't compare. After updating it's firmware, and making some personal adjustments, I set out to work.
Now we are at present time. It's been four years of escorting Cardamine convoys, beating up Corsairs, Bounty Hunters, IMG, and House law enforcement, and getting beat up. Almost died a few times too. During that time, I've flown through the Omicrons, Sigmas, Taus, Kusari, Liberty, and Bretonia space. I even learned more about our enemies. Seems you can find all sorts of cowards out there. It's been fun and all, but I felt a lack of personal direction. I felt I could achieve more, and accomplish more than where I currently am. As luck would have it, I found this channel.
Why do you wish to join La Famiglia di Medici? I see an opportunity for mutual growth. If I want to truly surpass the old man, and make meaningful contribution to our people, then joining this famiglia will be the best opportunity I can get.
