Director Maxwell,

I believe it has been long enough that this communication has gone on without my input, and I assure you it was not because it hadn't caught my eye, but rather because I needed this time to think. I do not believe I've introduced myself to you before, Director; I am Vice Admiral Maria Uhmen of the Forty-sixth Fleet - Flag Officer of Task Force Akhetaten and first in command of the LNS-Akhetaten herself.

The LNS-Akhetaten, alongside Task Force escorts, has found herself operating within the Ontario system quite often over the last few years. Ever since that we identified that energy signature, we have been stationed within close orbit of Planet Sudbury in a - to date - futile attempt at not only securing the location of hostile elements but also analyzing the aforementioned signature. Aside from visual indications that point to the "beam" originating from an ancient structure on the planet's surface, we've made no progress in deciphering this phenomenon.

Some intelligence we've gathered seems to suggest that the "beam" is pointing towards the Coronado System - perhaps Planet Jericho specifically. The inexplicable heavy radiation and strong electromagnetic interference around the planet's vicinity, as well as the ancient wreckage that preliminary visual scans reveal, seem to point us to the conclusion that these two locations might be connected in some form.

In addition to the above, Director, I should add that the Alien Gate within the Coronado system, that's been inactive for decades, has very recently showed signs of activity;

During one of our latest operations in the system we spotted a number of Navy vessels that were far from ours deep within the Barrier Rim. Following the signatures we were lead to the aforementioned Alien Gate. Moments later, and while we were analyzing energy pulses emitting from the gate, we were surprised by Nomad warforms of varying sizes that seemingly appeared out of nowhere. While their forces were easily dispatched of, and this was an event that has not occurred since, I refuse to believe in coincidences, Director.

I think I've made myself clear on what I consider to objectively be the only correct approach provided our current situation.

We must, at all costs, secure Planet Sudbury. Any form of resistance is to be eliminated with extreme prejudice. Liberty's control over the planet must be ensured.

Director Maxwell:

Director,

The First Fleet has been discussing the additional information provided, and have concluded that we simply do not have enough information to make a decision at this point. Clearly we require more information to make an informed conclusion, and would ask that the LSF share any relevant intelligence about enemy force dispositions here. You clearly have some idea of what is going on at Sudbury, particularly in regards to potential opposition, but have given no specifics to allow us to decide if the threat there is tangible enough to require an immediate strike.

We require further details into this matter before a conclusion regarding our preferred option can be reached, because as it stands there is no evidence given to suggest that the situation at Sudbury is liable to change in the immediate future, while the Lane Hacker situation would be most easily resolved with an immediate deployment. In addition, while there has certainly been a confirmation of infected activity in Inverness, the continued presence of the Tuscaloosa there would become a liability if the system were to suddenly become more threatening while our forces are actively engage in Ontario.

We need more information about forces around Sudbury at the very least before a decision can be made regarding the deployment of forces to that end of Ontario.

Esteemed colleagues,

I am Admiral Tanner, Executive Officer of the Forty-sixth. I'll get right to the point: although we should not underestimate the Lane Hackers ability to reverse engineer complex technology, it would be a far greater mistake not to respond to the situation in Sudbury first. I have been in close communication with Vice Admiral Uhmen regarding this issue and strongly concur with her recommendations. I wager that more than a few of us in this conversation have faced Nomads in battle; we know what they are capable of. With our current intelligence on Sudbury, we cannot allow them to gain a foothold so close to Liberty, striking with impunity wherever or whenever they please. Such a scenario is unacceptable, period. Don't even get me started on this energy beam; we all know what must happen.

For the Republic.

Director,

If the intel you've outlined is indeed accurate, it is safe to assume that any attempt to acquire the Niyodo Drive would result in a drastic waste of time and resources. As with many here, Third Fleet Admiralty has reassessed that securing the Planet Sudbury perimeter is of the utmost importance to Liberty forces at this time.

I am still of the mind that Tuscaloosa and her cohort are in an important position, and that Battlegroup Yellowstone should be utilized where necessary. The latter is already providing reinforcement support for forces in Ontario, and while the loss of her support in suppressing activity in California would be measurable, Battlegroup Concord is still in a suitable position to pick up any remaining duties.
This is, however, formally the LSF's operation. Should they deem that Battlegroups Lehigh and Tuscaloosa are adequate enough, then I will defer to their judgement.

Greetings,

After discussing this new intelligence alongside a re-examination of our own intelligence on Sudbury, at the insistence of our Intelligence director, the 5th Fleet is in agreement with our peers that the security of Planet Sudbury is paramount over the Niyodo Drive. Our intelligence operatives suggest it will take some time before a working replica of the Drive is manufactured, tested and deployed by our enemies. As such, the Admiralty has reconsidered and our forces in the region will move in unison with the First, Third and Fourty Sixth Fleets. We have prepared orders for our contingents in the area and will issue them upon a consensus being formally reached.

Keep us updated with any new intel, we shall naturally do the same.

Regards,

Admiral Miles Prower

Alright, listen up, folks. I get the hype around that fragment. Shiny new toy, right? But let's be real, we've got bigger fish to fry. ONI intel is practically screaming about Xenos and Insurgent remnants that joined them crawling all over this system. We can't let them get the upper hand. I agree with my fellow officers.

Sudbury's gotta be our top priority. We secure that planet, clean up the rest of the system, then we can go chase shiny objects. Simple as that.

The First Armada's ready to roll. Let's kick some ass and show 'em what the Republic's made of! Hoo-rah! For the Republic! Let's do this!

Director Maxwell.

I share my view with Fleet Admiral Kemp-Smith, Admirals Asterius, Ferguson, Uhmen and Tanner as well my colleges from LSF TacOps and External Threat Division.

The Sudbury is our main concern. There is no point in denying that it's the bigger threat. Lane Hackers just do not possess the capability to reverse-engineer a Military technology in such a short-time - nor, I believe, the required resources to do so. As such the only logical solution is to secure Planet Sudbury, and then go for the secondary objective of recovering Nidoyo wreck.

However, as mentioned by the First Fleet Admiralty and Admiral Boehm himself, you did not specify the timeframe of such an operation, nor enough information to come to a satisfiable conclusion, Director.

We cannot spend time digging a logistical corridor for a month before it becomes a strain on our Military forces. Time and manpower is of essence here. As such, I request alongwith the First Fleet Admiralty that you share any relevant intelligence before we can go forward with the 'single, resolute plan of action'-that you had mentioned.

That, then, brings us to another topic - I need to object to your assessment on Yellowstone. Although it sits in a critical junction that disrupts smuggling and pirate operations in California system, it can be relieved by Battlegroup Bravo (Concord) very easily and redeployed to Ontario in short notice. I believe Yellowstone will increase our operational security, as the Battlegroup Bravo cannot transit safely the Ontario Jump Gate, without possibly causing a situation closely resembling the Alberta Incident, nor Bravo can provide sufficient reinforcements through the Jump Gate, should we need to salvage this operation.

My views on recommendation to redeploy Yellowstone with Admiral Fergusson are matched - however, I do understand that the battlegroup never faced this big threat with this much stake on-the-line other than pirates in Coronado, as such, they need to be relegated to internal security of the Damaged California Jump Gate perimeter against opportunistic terrorist attacks, and ONLY called in as the last straw if the operation severely deteriorates.

Unless you provide Intelligence that will, without doubt, determine that Tuscaloosa and Lehigh will be enough, I hope this recommendation will be reviewed sufficiently and not fall on deaf ears.

I believe, your last concern should be reorganization. Director.

That would be all, thank you.

Marcus Robinson

Director Maxwell:

My analysis and position remains unchanged as of my last message. However, at the request of other Advocate team members, I have collaborated with TacOps to provide additional tactical resource suggestions.

Project Long Walk and developments regarding the LSF-RC-X1 have come to a halt in favor of the proposed LSF-RC-X2, a version utilizing Project Clear Castle for hull reinforcement and engine technology. Provided with additional support from the Government, the LSF-RC-X2 could be finalized and several could be deployed as Long Range Strategic Strike and Reconnaissance vessels, and could be used to expand control over Ontario's further depths, disallowing Lane Hacker escapes while maintaining operational control of Ontario and Sudbury. It has been in a near-finished state for some time, however, tests of the X1 have proven stable, and it holds very minor differences between itself and the X2.
Project Clear Castle has been ongoing since the end of the Gallic war, and we have obtained several developments regarding it, but have put very few to use. Engines based off of the Project Clear Castle advancements have roughly the same drive necessary to move a Valor Gallic Battleship, but can be scaled and refit to match with other ships. If the Battleships Rio Grande and Minneapolis were transferred to LSF command and refit with Project Clear Castle engine tech, the mass-to-drive ratio would allow for rapid and extended movements of these ships and their battlegroups, enabling rapid redeployment. The force deployed would be able to more effectively secure key points within Ontario, freeing up additional forces to pursue other tactical objectives.

These options could be utilized to assist with equal pursuit of both options, though would require extensive resource use. With or without these, Option B remains the highest priority.

With Liberty and Justice for all,

Excelsus,
Agent,
External Threat Division

Director,

I have to agree with my colleagues from First and Second fleets. Though I will not retract my previous statement - indeed, securing Sudbury is the only option we have, yet you do not present us with much information about it. Information that you seem to be in possession of, given how you are afraid that somebody might "redirect" the beam. How can we know if it's even possible? To take into account my bare minimum expertise and past experiences with the Nomads and the reports about Sudbury, I can assure you that it can't be done locally - the planetary shield around the facility, which is most evidently of Dom K'Vosh origin, is impenetrable, and the beam appears to be fixated on a specific point north of Ontario, towards Alberta. If I had to guess, something in that god forsaken place has sent a signal to the facility - something that wants to use Alberta as a back door.

Those are just baseless guesses, but there can be no concrete base when dealing with the Nomads and their creators - their way of thinking is simply alien. Following my presumptions, the beam in question can't simply be "redirected". More over, it won't be redirected at all. If you have proof that my guesses contradict the reality or that I'm not entirely correct - kindly share this proof with us. It will help us understand what we're dealing with, or at least have a rough image of it.

Although we are more than capable of brute forcing our way in, we need to know more about what's going on in Ontario. If your department has some additional information about Sudbury, if you have any sort of intel about local criminal activities - those must be shared with us. I have no doubt in my mind that Xenos will use this opportunity to throw some pins under our wheels when we're busy facing off whatever comes out of that beam.

For the Republic.
