I have long ago passed the time when life stops giving you things and starts taking them away.
Mine is now the oldest generation in our family. Being a grandfather myself, and being so much closer
to the end of my story than the beginning, let me tell you the most likely perspective of your deceased
patriarch.
We are all the result of thousands of Loves, back to time immemorial. The most important thing to a
good man is that he raised a good family. He takes his family's name from his forbears and leaves it to
his children unstained. He loved you and is proud of you, even if you stumbled and it was never said openly.
As one who has stood at the threshold of Death, I can assure you that the Souls that have known endure.
Just beyond our reach for only a time, but not lost. All shall be reunited one day.
Speak to your grandfather when you have the need. He will be happy to have the company while he waits.

My sincere condolences to you and your family.

Don't be too sad, I'm sure he lived a good life and he even had the chance to meet you and you had the chance to learn many a nugget of wisdom from him. Some of us never had that chance.

May he rest peacefully.

The outpouring of support has been incredible. Thank you to all who have reached out in support. I was very close to my grandfather and even though we saw this coming a month ago, it still hurts a lot. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers that his transition into the afterlife is peaceful.

It ain't about what you are capable of, it's about what you're willing to do.
