Yeah, thats what I'm thinking. I just need to figure out how to get him dependent on it. Would something like a cardamine injection directly into the bloodstream possibly put it on the fast track?

For major Outcast-to-the-bone pilots, withdrawrals include death, first weakness, dizzyness , cramps and headaches, then it gets worse untill the user dies.

as for a breath of cardi, i's say some slight dizzyniess, slight weakness, headaches and a bit of nausea

as for dependancy, i think it would be hard to become completely addicted and dependant in one dose, about 2 weeks of heavy useage will get you mortaly dependant

Id say about 3 weeks actually. I doubt the stuff would act that fast... that is just being on the planet.

Its in the atmosphere yea, but if im not wrong, the actual cardimine comes from the grass, etc. therefore, just being in the city won't do much.

Then again I don't know much about outcast history.

I would say the time towards total dependency should significantly reduce for regular smugglers of cardamine. Constant visits to Malta, transporting large consignments and the perpetual presence of trace elements in cargo holds would all contribute to this. Just a thought

Well, I'd imagine a lot of non-outcast visitors to the planet to wear oxygen masks or protective equipment to prevent contamination. Individuals such as members of the Golden Chrysanthemums or Lane Hackers or other factions who aren't biologically dependant on Cardamine, or visiting traders or freelance pilots would likely be careful not to expose themselves to the cardamine in the air, and you'd expect some visitor-only areas which are free of cardamine.

The timeframe for the complete cardamine dependancy for individuals visiting Malta would depend on a number of factors. Individuals with no prior exposure just breathing the air would take longer then individuals with some previous cardamine use (but aren't already dependant), like GC or Rogues who are visiting. As well, it depends on if contaminated food or drink is taken while on planet.

Timeframes range from 2 or so weeks downwards, I guess.

All that begins must end.

In my opinion breathing the air on Malta is even worse than using Cardamine the ordinary way. Simply for the reason that outcasts cant rely on the cardi-supply through their masks forever, they need to get back to the planet from time to time or they will die as well.

Logic failure there.
The air on Malta has some cardimine in it due to the grass.
The cardimine in the air is what would keep Outcast's alive without masks.
Why would a mask, which is a pure source of Cardimine, be well..worse for them?
The logic in your statement means that they need oxygen too..which they get everywhere.
