Well, maybe, but fighter armors would need to be seriously looked at cost-wise. Explosives, too, then - aren't they based on the idea of more than the lowest level armor?

I like that armor cargo space is the determining factor in what ships they can be used on. If something needs to be adjusted, it's this. Also, I dont really think it needs adjustment.

No, I think the armor upgrades just need a price drop, rather than restricting who can mount what armor.

No. If someone has the credits to pay for a cap 8 armour, they should be allowed to use it... In-game prices are mostly balance measures not exactly roleplay measures - militaries and so on would actually produce and distribute armour to their major ships instead of letting the pilots buy them from stations.

A cap 8 gunboat - good on him for spending all that money for not much extra benefit.

hmm those mk5-6 fighter armors are great on fighters, quite a breath of fresh air, i've noticed a few of OPG-Rats flying them didn't survive any less in a battle...

Really, they should be reduced. A fully-armed fighter or bomber can cost as much as a transport or even gunboat in some cases.

It doesn't matter what the price is, people will still get it. So just lower it and we don't have problems.

There's a big long thread about armor upgrades, which may be useful.

Oh and by the by, armor won't be getting cheaper, becuase Mjolnir can pirate the money to buy them. So it's all good.

Well, by this argument (not necessarily the original one), shouldn't bombers cost more/less since the SNAC is so rediculously expensive? I mean, who wants to buy a weapon thats twice the cost of the stock ship? And then (ohooho) shouldn't we kick the arms dealers in the nuts for increasing the prices by 700% in the last year and a half and tell them no?

I used to be able to buy a Code for 2 mill. Now the cheapest one (on average) is 14 mill. Wtf?

See, we can't adjust it so the armor is cheaper/equal to the ship value - and only the armor. Mostly because *cough* <strike>armor's for pansies</strike> *cough* its an unnecessary drain on money that real fighter pilots wouldn't need to win a fight... Like me. Otherwise we'd need to take into consideration all the other stupid expensive pieces of hardware out there. Sooo, if they wanna spend 15.8 mill on something that just helps them sleep better at night, let them.

But then again... Real fighter pilots don't use a quartet of Codes like everybody else... *grumble* Another matter entirely!

Adieu, sirs and... Madames.

No to this.

You're buying a new Cadillac Escalade, and you want to put armor and other things on it. The base price of your vehicle is about $50,000. Pricey, yet still out there. The typical cost to add armor, self-sealing run flat tires, and in general make the vehicle such that it'll stop anything up to and including the typical .50 caliber sniper rifle round - is around $125,000. ($70,000 if you want less protection - but still more than the cost of the vehicle.)
