My first thought is not to get the DSE ID, not if you want to mine scrap metal around Pittsburgh.

The backstory behind the Pittsburgh Debris Sweep (link is to the economy event application, includes links to forum RP and other material) is that ALG has been contracted by DSE to use their superior salvaging technology to make the job more lucrative for everyone and less long. We have had a few events and impromptu happenings with ALG Movers and Mining Ships.

I see no reason for this contract not being open for all ALG people, whether they are members of the official faction or not, so in my opinion the ALG ID is a very good option in terms of role-play.

Not only that, but the ID (with an ALG IFF) will boost your mining yield, which the DSE ID will not. It's only about 15% (20%?), of course, so your profits won't depend on it. A nice bonus, nevertheless.


On the other hand if you are a Liberty mining corporation (with no connections whatsoever to ALG or Rheinland) the DSE ID is likely the best faction ID you can choose. I am very willing to role-play out a groovy solution that involves beautiful ships and a cleaner neighborhood. Perhaps DSE has decided to invest in a salvaging division to cut down on dependence on other corporations? Well, let the role-play make the decisions!

If we get a 5,000 transport, more and more will target miners and raise pirate prices, and may cause an upsurge in 'power' miners if its even possible with the current system.

But, I am for seeing more purpose built mining ships.

Also, if you're using Miner/transport teams...you don't need, as the miner, a solid 5k in each transport, just make sure you get the correct percentage...

well our miners shoot out a max yield of 90 per shot. and average 50-60 a shot. right now, so we really don't need the mining bonus, but we have so much excess scrap that it just goes to waste. we have tried hiring other smaller transports to help. but they don't understand or don't listen. all they need to do is run back and forth. then calculate after 10 runs the pay to each person (Cargo space 4200 x ppu=599 x how many hauls 10 then divide by how many are in group 5)

so with that this is how it would work (4200 x 599 = 2.515.800 x 10 = 25.158.000 / 5 = ->5.031.600<-)

and we let them just round it to make it easier to type so 5.000.000 per person per 10 hauls. which is entirely fair because each individual does their fair share of work. however the haulers we hire to help sometimes think other wise and decide to dock pay. or not pay at all. And since we cannot fully support another 4200 cargo or even 3800 cargo hauler we figure just upgrading to the highest cargo possible would help out in keeping the area clear of excess debris.


And we wouldt really say we are "power miners" though i do understand where you are coming from. and we have had to hire on a few security guards (just a couple random pilots looking for work in the system) and we add them onto the payroll and pay them a fair rate. which also helps them out as well. we like to create a network of people working together, as any normal business would. with any income based group there are the pirates on us as well, we don't really mind them that is how the game works.

I believe Unselie is refering to the ratio between mined and transported units over time. If you can transport more units than you can mine during any given time interval, the limiting factor to your profit is the mining capacity and getting more or larger transports won't help.

From the sound of it, the problem isn't how much they're mining, at all. It's how much they can carry back at a time. Their mining ability is outpacing their ability to export the scrap to Pittsburgh, and with the current mining ID, they can't move to larger transports to carry it all, as their hold size is capped.

I for one am all for DSE working with other player groups, or opening up our own salvage division that others can at least "sub-contract" off of in-RP. ALG is fine and all, but I can't picture them operating entirely unmolested in Liberty.

ALG operating in Liberty space would cause ... issues, I think. (And that's being polite about it.)

The Shire can haul 4200 cargo - so it just sounds like you need either a couple of them, or maybe just some freelancers with BWT's - if there were two of them working, they haul 3600 each. That'd make for some quick runs.

As one of the members of the official ALG faction, I've been trying to stay out of Liberty due to the war and potential diplomacy issues it could cause. This is not to say that we have to stay out, just that our presence in Liberty can be an irritant.

You mentioned issues with the Xenos and their proclivity for attacking foreign national companies. For that reason I would echo the support for a DSE hauler. DSE may have hired ALG to help with the clean up, but with the current situation I have no doubt that they would be happy to contract the clean up to independent crews.

The ALG specific hauler has a 4700 cargo capacity and a scrap mining bonus.

I have absolutely nothing against the ALG at all. but i wouldn't want an ALG hauler catch flak from every liberty navy ship in new york. i dont wish that upon anybody with the state that liberty is in.
