Well, I got some sleep, and I did a bit of work with the model today. I think I'm much closer to having it ready for finishing touches.

[attachmentid=1463]

Also, I keep hearing this voice in my head...

"Acolyte standing by."

Currently: Remastering Kiith Somtaaw's Acolyte Fighter. These Homeworld ships need some Sirius work done on them. ^.-

Thanks.

And... HURAH! Time to show you what I've got- an entire ship modelled. A few bits here and there need to be tweaked, but I think I got it looking about right. At least, I think it's neat, aggressive, and still very much recognizable as an Acolyte...

"Acolyte ready." "Engaging the enemy!"

EDIT: Please note that the Dromy engines I added just before rendering those pics. I'm currently not sure about them, but they combined both a slick way to have the back end of the 'arm-wings', and the pylons connecting them to the main body.

Blegh. I'm trying to get the Dromy engines to fit in... the problem is, to scale them up so they fit in with the arms, I manage to make the engine parts larger than the presumed 'main engine' in the center of the ship.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I really think the center engine should be biggest, but I can't really make it much larger without breaking the geometry.

I may need to work on this after another night's rest, too. Might be a solution to the center engine problem I can't think of for now.

Okay. I think I've done all I want with the actual model, to be honest. I believe I'll now upload the various model files, so people can check it out.

I've successfully imported it to Milkshape, but... getting it from Milkshape to CMP has been... confusing. It's making my Acolyte TINY! I can barely see it when I load up the resulting CMP with HardCMP. WTF?

I'm hoping somebody else can make it work for me?

www.giovetti.com/paladinstorm/models/Acolyte-Rev-3.ms3d - the MS3D-imported file, looks just like the .MAX that's right below...

www.giovetti.com/paladinstorm/models/Acolyte-Rev-Final-2.max - the .MAX which is the core model that you guys have been seeing.

www.giovetti.com/paladinstorm/models/hw_ks_lf.cmp - this... is the weird cmp that Milkshape gave me, which has the ship as TOO SMALL!!!! @.@

www.giovetti.com/paladinstorm/models/Acolyte-Rev.3DS - the 3DS that served as a middleman between my MAX and the MS3D required for exporting CMPs.

Okay, I apparently had to scale my ship up by 100x to get it to be the right size when exporting to CMP. o.O

But it is, indeed, the right size- I just compared it to the current Acolyte in the game, and it looks about right (the bodies are of comparable scale). Now... to position the hardpoints with HardCMP. o.o ... I'm kinda scared of that... I hope it's not too hard. For now, I think I just want the equipment mounts and engine thrusts in the right place. Damage points can come later, I suppose.

.... Ah, okay.. Things seem to be going well enough...

[attachmentid=1465]

I think I'll have to study where all these things go and orientation from existing CMPs, I suspect, but it looks easy enough.

I... have finished adding Hardpoints to the Acolyte. Now... can I just plop it in where the old Acolyte was, and it'll replace it seamlessly, or is there more?

(EDIT: The ship uses the bw_ships.mat, so that has to go in the same directory. I'm not sure what a .sur file is, though, and I'm not sure what I need to do fir the 3db, if anything. To be honest, I'd love to hand this sucker off to somebody else to work out how to get it into the game, but I'd like to test it out myself)

You should most likly send the files to Igiss and see what he says. Most likly he will really like it and put it in the next mod release.

Great Job mate, Keep up the good work!
