Evil RP? Nothing evil about having a rich RP...

Anyway, here's an in-depth breakdown of Bretonian politics guarenteed to bore the pants off even the most interested of you.

So, Bretonian politics consists of 4 main bodies. The House of Commons, elected by the people, and the House of Lords, herediary and appointed, make up the Bretonian Parliament. The Lords is more powerful on most issues, though the Commons is still significant, particulary on control of finance. Then there is the government, led by the Prime Minister and other Cabinet Ministers, who are selected from either House of Parliament, though usually the Lords. They propose legislation, deal with diplomacy, control the Armed Forces etc. Finally there is the Crown, represented by Queen Carina, who is the Head of State and has partial, though weakened, control over the government, appointing the Prime Minister and able to veto some legislation.

As for the parties, here's a couple of charts showing the current makeup of both Houses of Parliament:

And if you want oodles more unnecessary detail, here's a link to a spreadsheet I've done showing the breakdown of MPs in the House of Commons:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ak...1VQWc&hl=en

The main parties are as follows:

Crown Royalist Party - this is the main party currently in government, of which the Prime Minister and the majority of other ministers are members. It is a conservative party in favour of a strong monarchy, nationalised industries, maintained class system and an expansionary foreign policy. Within the party there are two main factions; Progressive Royalists, currently controlling the government, who are slightly more liberal, and Imperialist Royalists, who were ousted from government in January, who are more nationalistic and conservative. These differences are more pronounced in the Lords than the Commons, where the party is held together more strongly due to the need to be re-elected.

Populist Party - the Populist Party was outlawed and its MPs exiled back in October, so this party no longer exists. A protest party, formed from its core supporters, called the Populist-Freedom Party, formed quickly before the last election, but was too disorganised and lacked the leadership to recapture all of the Populists' votes. They are a liberal party in favour of a weakened or abolished monarchy and greater democracy.

Leeds Workers Party - A socialist party (in the vein of the early 20th Century British labour party) whose support comes from the poor industrial workers on Leeds and the surrounding mining stations. In favour of minimum wage laws, stronger trade unions, worker's rights, abolished class-system, improved housing conditions, healthcare etc. and opposed to the power of BMM and other major corporations. Gained a lot of support base from the exiled Populist Party at the last election.

Corporate Alliance - Loyal supporters of the big companies, particularly Bowex and BMM, whose support base are the millions of loyal workers they employ (the less loyal workers voting for the Leeds Workers Party). Advocate nationalised corporations (obiously), pushing for greater influence for their companies and less corporate regulation. Opposed to workers rights movements such as trade unions, minimum wages or environmental protection.

Green Front - Legitimate front to the Gaian eco-terrorists. In favour of environmental protection and hugely increased regulation against groups like BMM. Have support from Cambridge scientists, farmers and students, but their popularity has fallen since the war when gaians began siding with the Kusari invaders.

IMG-Free Market Coalition - An alliance of convenience between 2 small groups, one representing the IMG population in Bretonia, the other in favour of free trade, minimal government and libertarian economics.

Borderworlds Expansionary Fringe Party (or Bowex Fringe) - Radical nationalist group, in favour of an agressive foreign policy, strong armed forces, protectionism and conservative social policy. Split from the Corporate Alliance following disagreements over foreign policy in Tau.

The current Prime Minister is George Mountbatten, Duke of Westminister and ex-pretender to the Throne. Useful background can be found in the Bretonian Parliament thread here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...ic=27654&hl

Feel free to PM with any further questions / disputes over RP (most of which I confess I just made up. But hey, no-body else was going to do it. And the Bret Government seems to have accepted the RP above as it stands)
