The Hellfire Legion has been around, with its Liberty capships, since before I came around (which was June, 07). That's longer than the vast majority of current players, with the exception of a few true oldbies who're still around.

Sulfur and Brimstone or not, they're still just pirates.
Never was a fan of rebellion or defectee RP. We have the same problem with these kray guys right now - they made off with an osiris, a carrier, and numerous other ships, all to join a rebel group of bounty hunters that pvpwhore all the way across sirius.

If you're going to defect, fine - but lose the ship and buy one that suits the faction you're now a part of.

Hey, it worked for the Order and the Osiris. :P

I believe that they have a pretty good RP reason to have them.
I think thats their only one too?

To the OP:

Have you ever even attempted to RP with [HF]? Seeing that carrier, did your character react in an appropriate manner, or was your first thought to come to the forum?

Pretty simple.

Basically, way back in 4.84, I believe, the LN/SA was run by a guy named Zepphos. He played a completely corrupt character (who actually later became the Phantom Corruption). Basically, we got the carrier as part of a peace deal with him. There's a whole long RP story on it. Use the search function next time.

But for now, for all your lazy people, here.

The RP Story.

I think you'll find this part of interest.

"Now for the finer points of the deal. Our 'lost' capital ships will be three in number. You will provide any funds necessary on top of the amount encompassed in this deal. You will choose the class, between Gunboat, Cruiser, Frigate, Dreadnought or Carrier. They will be 'dropped' in Magellan on a day of your choosing, at a time of your choosing. I must have this info before hand so I can organise the fated patrol. All crew are to be disposed of. No survivors."

...

' Wrote:...

"I would love 3 capital ships "lost" in Magellan, preferably 2 Liberty Carriers and a Dreadnought.

...

' Wrote:...

"The Carriers and the Dreadnought will be commissioned once our shipyards receive your payment, via myself ofcourse. The new crews of the ships will be sent to Magellan for war games, as part of our training proceedure. I shall make sure that the power generators are faulty, so they should pose no threat to a fleet of fighters with cruise disruptors, or anything you feel necessary."

...

Do your own homework next time.

What defectee would use a ship from the faction he's defecting from? Then they can find him and assassinate him. In this case, why use one of the biggest ships in the LN? That draws too much attention.

It's just an excuse to say, "Well, I defected. So I can use whatever the frak I want."

Like I said, not defection.

However, you may note that HF has a bit of a taste for Liberty ships, but we can't get them much. As ex-Navy, most of us actually consider them superior to what we have at the moment, and we're eager to get our hands on them and "upgrade" them.

Currently, HF has two Libertonian ships: The Carrier, and an LABC that I believe is named the Setting Sun or something like that.

And this thread need not continue any more... there's a reason why you ask people either in game, or use the faction search button. Don't EVEN think of starting something that resembles a trial by forum...
