K is a thousand. M is a hundred. Duh?

Of what? some fraction of a system.

It actually works rather well as an astronomical Unit, (distance from earth to sun), with the assumption that objects in the systems end around 125k from the stars, for sol sized stars. (125 AU is the distance at which the sun's gravity stops having an effect)

K are Kilometers and M are Meters in Freelancer, except that practically everything is scaled down.
I mean, imagine a real sized star or even a planet in Freelancer, that will take up your entire screen! Do you feel the chills? I sure do

meh, Canadians are freeloaders, just look at them, staring down at us and our acursed ways.

War of 1812 is just the beginning........ muahahha

On topic : Freelancer's scaling is screwed, it always has been. If a planet is about 3X a battleship stacked up, how big is the battleship?

The entire freakin' world uses metric, jeenyuz.

On topic: Let's go with the metrons and kellicams. The Klingons were always the smartest space-faring species of Star Trek.

EDIT: Okay, I think I got as close as we're going to get to reality. M = 1 light-microsecond, or about 300 metres. K = 1 light-millisecond, which is about 1/66 the diameter of Earth. So, unfortunately, we'd have to make K = 10 light-milliseconds, or 10 000 M, in order to have Manhattan (sort of earth sized IIRC) be a pretty much correct size. So 1 M needs to be 10 light-microseconds, or 3 kilometers, for this to work.

All in all, this is as close as we can get to connecting the freelancer <bleep>up with reality.

Retired, permanently.

As a Physicist living in the US... I lul'd. The entire world has conformed to metric save for a few small countries, and yet Americans fight for the Imperial system...

All I can say is if I had to use a slug to measure force, or a foot-pound to measure torque, I'd change my major.

On topic; freelancer is hopeless in terms of scale.
