Same question, how huge is the number, freelancer can theoretically handle?

I think its a good idea, since where getting alot of new members comeing through, when it got up to 65 the same night we had about 63 or 4 members online at one point.

I've seen servers with 150 IIRC... I'm not sure if FLserver has some hardcoded limit, but I'd bet once you start getting up there the load would increase exponentially (or w/e).

I could put the number up to 128 when i started the FLserver.exe, but no doubt this can be edited or changed by a program, much like everything else.

Limits could be due to the variable size. 128, 256, 65535, etc.

its possible to raise the server to like, 50000, but:

1 The server would go at 1 FPS when its full.
2 Its really hard to code it.

Large fight in Alpha this afternoon...

7-10 fighters I think all in the same system shooting at each other. I didn't get a chance to see how many people were on the server, but it was a lot.

The lag was manageable, 2 or 3 times we had yellow or red. I experienced 2 'hiccups.' After an extended fight the server crashed or went off line with no warning, not sure.

I caution everyone not to judge the performance of the server purely on what the gameplay is like for those of us with top-rate systems. My system is showing it's age these days so I'd appreciate some conservativism when looking at how many slots to open.

Yeah there was a bit lag for some people... My wingman Die-Hard got dropped from the server and had extreme lag at the time of the fight, while I got none or sometimes a little yellow lag... But nothing to write about back home...

I think the server is doing quiet good:)
