Maybe alittle off topic, but IMO people who use the TAU 31 trading route are exploiting what I am sure is minor oversight in the mod. What RP can there be in that route that takes all of minute to complete. There is basically no challenge, you have a powerful protector there already in the form of a NPC battleship. I have pirated this route sucessfully once, and only when we had 3 pirates working togather, and that only after the people pirated got sick of the constant picking away at them. The chance of a kill on this route is slim due to the shortness of it. This route is all about power-gaming pure and simple. Trading may not be the most fun thing to do and can become boring at times, but this is still game. If money is all you are after this is your cash cow. For people who want a challenge use a longer route and take some risks, you'll appreciate your earnings more after outrunning pirates and the adreniline rush with it.

It is also impossible to pirate because of the very short time a trader can be in space.
custo benitez or ximen benitez(i am not sure who ) pirate in tau31. and everyone pay him. so is not impossible.
today i was moved to manhattan from tau 31. and for my question why,was answer because you was killed by phantoms.but noone killed my.phantoms shoot for me but i escaped cca 10 k and then turn back and quickly land.but i was not killed, only think that happend to me was bad maneuver and i crash on planet. and message was globalp-svk commited suicide, and no globalp-svk was killed by ......
adn yes, time in space is 30 sec.but two pirate taiidans with novas, have enough time to stop traders.
I'm in favor of disbanding that route... sounds like it's been addressed in 3.84. Good.
I made a couple of passes on the route myself, but the suspension of disbelief kicks in fast... Why would there be literally hundreds of thousands of prisoners being moved from planetside to the battleship?

I've come up with two humorous theories on this...
1) Mcduff has a group of scientists on board that have come up with a higly effective and potent H-Fuel that uses chemicals from the living bodies of prisoners. So basically they are burnt up as feul.
2) The military is turning the prisoners into a massive army of obedient cyborgs to do their bidding.
Take your pick. Maybe it was an oversight, but some of us acctually like the run, and as it's been said a few times here it can be pirated if done properly. If you don't like it, quit complaining and don't use it. If you are a pirate who refuses to figure out a way to properly pirate the area, go somewhere else and quit complaining.
Please note that I have pirated that route and assited archelon. I am a Molly, he is a rogue. both are outcast allies, and do not have access to Tizonas or coladas, or the Taiiden Bomber. Also note that the Inferno cannon that is scailed down for GB use is totally useless agianst trains.

I think that the most simple solution to the Tau-31 route is to make MacDuff farther away. Make it a 2 minute or 3 minute run instead of one. It both lowers profit margins to make other routes more competitive and also gives pirates plenty of time to waste the traders.
That would be a very very minimal change that would have a huge effect. I've done the math on 31. Its just a bit better than say Cam->Corfu->Cam Station but only because its less than 2km from each destination. Make that 5km and suddenly you got a different ball game.

Then pirate else where. The are what 15 in Tau31 and 60 in other systems? Hmm sounds to me like you could easily go elsewhere. Though I feel for you a bit as you do deserve a better sheild buster.
well i like the idea of getting rid of the route as well, really it is a cheap and nasty way to make money really wouldn't happen.
You do measly back and forth runs 3k apart maybe less and make 1.4mil every min at least not gonna happen. In this day and age i would class that probably as being a bin man and he sure as hell don't make that amount of cash here now does he.
getting rid of it would get rid of a major hot spot imo hot spots cause violence and grief only reason manhattan doesn't crumble is the fact its the main system its a non-pvp zone and it just plain would not get away with it.
just my opinion on that matter
*EDIT*
Its good when things are spread out means factions will be forced to stay nearer they're own systems and stop the traders clumping up. Meaning no un-needed battles and lots of traders chatting way lah di dah like because they bored out they're wits running back and for every 30 seconds, can be quite mind numbing.
will sort out Piracy problems, Mercenary job problems, Trader rp problems maybe force more role related battles else where maybe to where they're supposed to happen
