The idea is not bad but you actually may look to contact some of the present groups around Dublin, it will be much more easier to come along with them and patrol together, the idea with the funding is not so clear to me why should be problem, you can equip bomber for around 30 mill and fighter for around 20 mill.

Escorts are only worth in rp reasons. Sometimes they're more expensive than dealing with pirates and less effective
You are really really wrong about the escorts, first they can deal with the pirates just perfect if you know what are you doing, and second the idea of Escort pilot is not to fight/kill the pirates but to secure the miners and the ore transports, good escort squad can do many nice things.

(yes, i've seen enough of those lolduels, where house military with overwhelming force on the field willingly loses a pilot in a duel. ffs.)
Thats what I was thinking of finding good escort pilots who know how to patrol, who then will be able to warn miners of pirates heading to the field there in so they can get out.
The problem with that is if we was not under a contract as such we could not give that info, or if we was to give it to a miner who didn't fund us, it would take time to tell him and may cause confusion, and may even allow the pirate to get to the miner.
Vigilante ID, BMM IFF, Civvy guns/ships. A bunch of pissed off bret 'lawfuls' taking up arms against the Mollies themselves in light of the BAF/MR armistice. Not quite the same but still cool.
That said, if you're doing this because you're angry about your miner getting killed or something, I suggest you take a hike.

Excuse me, If you do have something bad to say please go somewhere else.
And I do not like mining it is the most boring thing I know, Sorry to those you like it.
I have come up with this idea through roleplaying, talking to a few miners whilst escorting them and those I role played with ie the miners and other ID'ed paper vessels said it is a good idea. But I have found that it may be hard to work so I shall be doing more role play when I am back as Mercenary to gain the needed contacts that I have found that I will most likely need.
And to correct your statement to. It will be a mercenary venture if it goes ahead and it might not be even funded by BMM it may only turn out for Indepandant miners who gain from the support of there own private army in Dublin.

Greetings again, I know a miner that would be interested. The only issue would be the time he's online.
He's +10 hrs SMT and is online when the server reboots around 6am SMT. If your online around then, you should look him up.
His mining ship is Atlas, he's usually always mining. I protect him sometimes when I'm not elsewhere. I've mentioned your idea and he said you should talk to him about funding.
He's interested, but depends what time that is for you. For me it's 1am for him it's 4pm.
I usually call it a night when the server reboots, but I believe he stays on. There's not a lot of traffic on then, but there's a few pirates that show up.
Tea.Time taxes him and a Sumura ship comes along and kills him every now then. There are others but those 2 come to mind.
I am curious, as this seems to have been born from the high activity in Dublin owing to the economy, what your group will do after the next mod when the economy creates a different "hotspot" and all the activity moves from Dublin system over to X system. Will you rename yourselves X Merc Patrol and follow the mass? All too often special forces groups appear where there is a mass of activity, no NPC ID in particiular just some special forces in a generic ID. These new fella wrap their RP around these temporary places of activity only to find themselves left hanging to dry when a new update comes. Keep in mind that many of us longtime players have watched the tides of activity move to different systems and can attribute system activity to specific mod updates. If you are looking to make a longer lasting faction try to think more generalized rather then specific like Dublin Merc Patrol. It'll keep your group going in the long run when you find your chosen system becoming empty.
I think the idea of the Dublin mercenary patrol is great. Garrick was kind enough to draw my attention to this post and if there are any mercs in Dublin I would be happy to hire them. Theres rarely any help from the BAF and i'd rather pay a merc than a pirate.
Feel free to contact me by my mining ship, Atlas.
That is actually ok as I have not thought of a real name for it, but I needed to make one up so that it would interest people as the main mining is done in Dublin at the moment.
Now to answer Questions.
It would be nice to get pilots who are in differing time zones as I myself am SMT+1 at the moment, then SMT during winter (UK).
The funding would be primarily to have pilots who can patrol whilst being with in the rules of the Merc ID's. That way i can make sure it is being spread in to my faction depending on how much work each pilot does for patrols. though they will be free to carry out bounties on and off duty and carry out other escort duties out of there duty times. And be able to get prospective mercs in to suitable vessels.
Anyhow I will keep this thread going as there is an interest, but I want ot get some contacts for possible pilots to join, and also sell it to the major mining factions. Though if I could get a list of them that would be better along with the contact details for PM'ing.
