agree, too many people fuss over nothing. paint the ship a different colour so we can distinguish BD and KNF and lets move on. don't buff and nerf anything. leave it as it is, so that the fights can remain relatively even.
and also the idea 'its not the ship, its the pilot'. laters.
' Wrote:I mean, the Katana should be different... model-wise, in RP, they're supposed to be fantastic pilots, fantastic snubcraft.
Red Chimmys? I mean... lazy or what? Chimmy Mk2 or something?
Not necessarily better, just different.
Anyway, only problem I see here is the infocards. Change it from 'vague' to 'strong' and you're gold. Balance wise they're awesome, you're just not flying them right.
If anything I'd say it's the KNF ships that would change over time. All the Blood Dragon ships say they're all older-model KNF warships, so whatever ships they have are what they took with them when they formed the Blood Dragons and passed on through the generations while the KNF continued to build new ships and advance on their old technologies.
The Katana was an Easter Egg you saw a single time in OpenSP, it wasn't really meant to be flown. That's probably why it looks exactly like the Dragon.
It is, to be sure, a hangover from the older days of both Vanilla and Discovery.
I am not interested in the balance of the fighter and bomber - they are what they are, and there are very few people who fly them who are unhappy with them. This issue for me is purely about the look of the ships.
As for the Dragons not having any capital class vessels - I have two schools of thought on this.
One could argue that the Dragons are better resourced now, with their clandestine funding from the GMG. Over nearly two centuries of such funding, the Dragons may have developed the resource base to field their single Togo, as well as a number of Cruisers (assisted by the Order) and Hachiman Gunboats.
The other argument is that the Dragons are not as powerful as they were, and are a spent force in Kusari. Thus, to properly play out their role to its end - they should be willing to forego their capital-class ships altogether.
I shall be interested to see how developments in 4.86 move us towards one direction or the other.
As to ship design, there are two potential design influences that could be put to effect here:
1) The 'retro' design of what would have been the old KNF ships. The obvious influence here would be the Togo Battleship. Its darker textures, and open maw at the fore of the ship might be able to be re-introduced to 'new' Dragon ships.
2) The Order. The Dragon Cruiser, at least, states in its infocard that it is "an older design upgraded with Order technology". This would make the Dragon Cruiser - rather than the Battleship - a design inspiration for new craft.
Of course there is options 3 and 4 - do nothing, or do something completely different.
Without a modeller though - this is all academic. The Dragons make do with what they have regardless.

that is all.
Yep - that about sums up what we can expect from you I should think.
How about Igiss agrees on all of your ideas, hires some developers and modders, or keeps the current ones on the payroll so they don't feel like last idiots in world who only give but they're always asked for more.
And then why don't we let Igiss start charging to play in discovery universe.
Oh no, the numbers would go down by 90%. Here's the deal, while Jinx proposed many many ship models some were taken down, some were too advanced and some just got crapped on by rest of the forum people like they're some supreme court that runs this game.
If you want something done, do it yourself. Make a hard work and invest in it and then have it shot down and not implemented in game. I doubt you would make anything else. But these people do, and they do it from time to time, when they are in the mood.
If you can't understand why hasn't a design changed in frikkin traditional kusari then I don't know what to say.

How about we present constructive arguments eh? By your argument - the KNF and Dragon capital ships should also look the same?
But they dont - they are different. The reason they look different is that they are explicitly stated to be based on older designs from the current KNF models.
But then, how dare we mere chattels question the established order?
Its not the established order its the fact that someone with some design knowledge and creativity has to spend few days working on a new model and doing such a good job that, if he was getting paid, he would get paid well.
since we don't pay them, I tend not to whine about ships at all.
Will you argue everyone's comments today? :/
If you see my posting history - you shall see that I argue peoples comments yesterday, today and tomorrow as well.
I come from free-thinking forums, where ideas are to be judged on their own merit - discussed, disassembled, demolished.
If any of the comments regarding the Dragon ships constitute whining - I would think you are merely being specious- - trying to equate any opinions or dissent as whining or complaining.
As for the hard-working modellers, who shall shed a tear for the poor fellow who designed the Red Cat?
