I mean, it's a station wreck. You don't think the Junkers would be all over it?
Characters Alan Markson: The Hellfire Legion's Lord Commander The Perihelion: Freeport Four's guardian, and yet much more. Missing and assumed Lost with all hands. Eric Dresmund: Junker, smuggler, thief. Last seen drunk on Beaumont Vayrn Wyard: IMG Recon pilot turned Neo-Terran Captain. Last location unknown
A single station going kaboom probably wouldn't provide enough junk for a medium junk field, considering that the ones in New York and elsewhere are the result of rapid industrialisation on a massive scale.
@Kaz
The general public probably doesn't know that much about the artefact, especially with Liberty's cover-up crew.

It gets blown up by hostile aliens that bring humanity to the brink of destruction.
Why would you build a station where that one use to be?
That's like building an army base on the ruins of one blown to pieces by an invading army, whilst another invading army might just be sitting around the corner.
Tell you what, that sounds like a good place for a base to me. It seems to me like that place is horribly valuable and I want it way more than the next guy. If I were some kind of military commander, I would build another base there. I would build a bigger base there. Obviously it's an important spot, so it needs to be protected.
And, you know, I never knew why FP 7 was never rebuilt. I wanted it to be rebuilt. I honestly thought that the Sigmas were lacking a certain something, and that certain something was some kind of freehaven for trading in a nice area. But, what's a guy to do?
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
It could be replaced by a stationary Zoner colony ship. 1 of those with NPC unlimited powercore would keep any hostile at bay. You know how many guns that has,and give it a crap load of raser's,infernos,and rest solaris,and poof. Great big base with lots of guns. Also rebuild the Freeport,and have a pair of those Juggys with it as guards. Sort of like very big weapons platforms.
I think that the memorial navigation beacon/satellite idea with the small neutron star effect could be the most commemorative thing to do at the final resting ground of Freeport 7. You could also add something like Ithaca research station on the nav map. Oh and you could put a new station right next to the Jump Gate...BBQ & Buns Station?

Well I mean of course.
I was going to present my own well thought out idea, that contributed to the server or lore in a positive way, but Ryoken here beat me to it with his great idea.
