I do love it when Cosmos degrades himself down to the level where he starts spouting out immature personal insults.

On topic - I do think increasing drop rate is a decent solution, if people only need to spend 30 minutes blasting rocks then sell them at a lower profit instead of spending an hour then sell them at a higher profit then they might not feel as much loss when some of the rocks get taken away.

It's about risk, less risk is more pleasant for some. It won't necessarily rebalance minining but would definitely make people less angry when they get pew'd in piracy.

When pirates ask dor 1/2 or 1/3 of cargo, which they commonly do, I think the trader will be less hurt if he spent less time mining it and it gives more money.

At the same time, pirats will have to do more work for less profit, which may reduce the motivation to pirate.

So Im for option number one. I think changing the distances would require more work for devs, while just raising the droprate is less work (I think).

May also help noobs in basalt miners more, so the noob will get ok ships faster, getting them more motivated to collaborate with other players (after my experience on a server where drop rates were higher).

Its interesting how is EVERYBODY fixing miners, their ships, drop rates and such. Have you looked into the problem itself - pirates are the problem. Why they do not get any nerf? They are the ultimate reason behind this with their greediness and report happy fingers.

I say nerf pirates. Dont give them uber equipment. Make traders actually ABLE to defend without need to invest billion into ship.

2 cents.

Come back when you have an idea how to fix the mining issue;)

===============

Miners are in my opinion supposed to be on one spot to mine.
This makes the a easy target. But they are not meant to fly all over Sirius.

So my suggestion
- Make mining vessels have a 1k bay. Rest of the ship is needed to sort out the resources from the rocks for the major part. But since they are not efficient enough the rest will be done on a processing plant. Also give it more armor and less defenses. So pirates will have to be busy for a while to take down the miner. In the mean time Escort vessels have time to take out the pirate.

- Make the stations where to sell ore closer to the fields. Not too high prices for the ore so it won't be like 'MINING FTW'. Maybe up to 5k?
Make the drop rates for mining vessels only higher.

The bases where you sell the ore will also sell the processed goods a little more then the ore. Bases that want to buy the processed goods pay even more. But the difference in prices is as a regular trade route.

I agree a miner should be mining, and not transporting the cargo. Less cargo bay i dis-agree with, but maybe just cut the miners speed to half,or no thruster. Hell my Miner has been in Dublin for months without leaving the field. I transfer the ore to trade ships, which i believe is how it should be.

Nerfing pirates will never hppen,as all the most experienced players, and alot of admins are pirates,or run pirate factions, and it would be a sin to take away from them,so they nerf the newer players instead with miners so they can never get the money needed for good pirate chars,and/or caps.

Heh...so yet again the big Cash Cow gets nerfed. What amazes me is that people are actually surprised!

Its time for the Q_Q Circus to move on to the next top moneyspinner.

Where will it end up this time? Any guesses?

Pirates?:D

It's not about the Role of a character, this decrease on mining was done because of the players in this community, and I include all of us, because we all are this community.

Greedy Pirates, Greedy Miners, Greedy Traders, Greedy Mercenaries.

Uber equipment?

Tell you what, I pirate in a LF... no one ever is willing to pay me, I pirate on a VHF, no one pays, I pirate on a bomber, they don't pay unless they are about to die, I pirate in a P. Trans, they try to kill me, I pirate in a gunboat, they don't pay.

Now, that's just a general view, I've met awesome people who have stopped and played the situation (I even "pirated" an OC LF with my Corsair GB).

The damn problem is, Miners F1ing when they see you, when they jump thorugh jump holes/gates.
Hostile gunboats loging on as soon as the miner docks.
Pirates loging on mining fields.
Pirates being uber idiots and demanding the whole cargo and destroying what they can't carry on their ships.
Miners yelling "YOU CAN'T DEMAND 10 MIL" "YOU CAN'T DEMAND ALL MY CARGO"
Mercs attacking pirates for bounties that don't exist, just because they have miners, or their friends have.
And I'm not even mentioning the clear rules broken (swearing, re-engaging, 4 hours rule, etc).

So, if you did any of the things mentioned above, feel a bit guilty about it.

@ryoken and Everybody:

Open your eyes, Admins created the mining mod, remember Dusty? Remember Cannon? And those experienced players you complain helped to test it, and adjust, oh but they weren't bad people then right? They are now, because they took your money away?? Q_Q A friendly advice Ryoken, don't keep screwing things up with your big LNS, 'cause you won't get your guns and armor back as fast as you used to.

Im going to spam the obvious solution here too. The F1 function needs to drop all cargo in a ship or blow it up.

A rule isn't going to stop anything in this day and age.. honestly there isnt enough admins to deal with these flare ups.. I dont care how many they hire.

Its being violated worse then prohibition. Mining should be ridiculous in price and drop rate but the mechanic being abused and the headaches involved can all be fixed with a mechanical feature.. not.. economic sanctions.

Really do you want happier admins or not? I think it would go a long way.

Riiiight.
Now lets see for example. Tridente - best gunboat there is. Excellent hitbox, 8 turrets, great handling. Fair enough for a point.
Now lets see again. Setting up this gunboat in reasonable way takes about hour or such + lets say 70-100 millions. Killing miner takes 2 minutes, while he is outta game for at least another hour. Fair play to the pirates ey.

I am just too tired to read it again as you are just defending the pirates. SHould they stay reasonable, this would not happen. I personally have grinded several billions off this mining. Now it is gone. Entire mining bunch of Tau23 is now moving to powertrading. People love credits.
