Yes I did notice that you'd posted the violation report first. So now I'm staring at Bulldog's profile waiting for him to be active in the rule violation threads.

Has it occurred to anyone to at least inform these fellas of our forum and our rules while in game. Their leadership may not be encouraging them to do it but that is no excuse for us not to. Some of them may actually like RPing if they were introduced to it like we do with many other new players. Put down the torches and pitchforks until we have clear evidence that they know we have a great community with rules to abide by and are just outright ignoring that fact. These guys are just new players like all of you were at one point in time, it just so happens they all know each other which can cause difficulties in getting them to cooperate. When the point comes where they all have disregard for our server rules and RP then wheel out the flamethrower tank.

Well I think we're more informing the community at this point. I mean they approached us, we said 'hey wait', they said 'we're gonna do what we like', and now we're seeing them do it. So yes, lets by all means inform them of the rules. But its a reality that they might answer to an authority not of this message board.

Besides, is it really flaming to say "OMG they broke a server rule in less than a day"? I think its more of exasperation than flame...ation.

I wasn't suggesting anyone is flaming just yet (not on the forums anyway), though now that i reread my post it does seem that way. I can feel the tensions though. Like I said, I can't be sure if their reps represent the members themselves in the way they want to be represented.

Honestly, I think this is going to be a big heap of trouble....but maybe we can extract a few good players if we go about it right.

Monk: Some of their members have been here for a while, so they should have been encouraged by their members who were already active here to read the server rules and how to RP. After seeing the arrogant nonsense posted by DIC rep in their introductory thread, I'm not in a tolerant mood. Below is my response that I would have posted in the other thread, but couldn't because it got locked.

' Wrote:The Members of the empire would collectively like to mention, that we have spent close to 4 years in total forging the various groups and communities which make up the Damorean Imperial Covenant, and that we arent entirely taking kindly to being told we have to figure out who we are again, we have an entire book (pdf) about how the empire came into existence, and how all our inner workings have been operating, so much so that we do not feel the need to take the time to re-write our history. We are however willing to play along with the next closest ideals we come across.

So what is it? do you want us to fit in? or do you want us to create our own identities, please make up your collective minds, because we've made up ours.
DIC Rep: I want you to fit in, but you seem to be determined to do whatever you want whether or not it fits in with the RP in Freelancer, Discovery and this server. Did you even notice that the name of the server includes RP? That means role-play! That means that YOU try to fit in with US, not the other way around. Quoting your empire's history like it's a Holy Bible won't make you any friends here. In fact, your bad attitude is making you lots of enemies fast!

By the way, I'm relatively new here myself, only having been here just over two months. However, I have enough common sense to try to fit in myself, not try to bring in a large group of friends and expect everybody else to adapt to what I and my friends say.

Your right, the rep is intolerable. I have taken to ignoring that avenue of communication all together. If I find one of them ingame I will do what I've done with every new player and give em a chance and a small push in the right direction. Perhaps then they will try to convince their buddies to play along or they will simply make new chars that fit in here.

Really I just want to offer the individual members an olive branch in spite of being insulted first by their rep. I allow one bad first impression. They do it again though and I will not be so nice...not very nice at all.

EDIT: made a little change after reading below...hope my last point makes better sense now

I think we gave DIC Rep an olive branch, but he started thrashing us with it!

Right lads, we did this one down in factions ... I think it was made clear enough to them how it works here, and
if they choose to ignore that, they will fall into the clutches of server and roleplay rules.
Lets not continue the night of the long knives just yet please. First impressions were not good, and if there is
little or no attempt to address this problem, then I'm sure your dissatisfaction will be made abundantly clear.

Thanks Hood, I have full confidence that Admins and Mods have it under control. *drives flamethrower tank home...melting the snow in its path*
