Just FYI, the TAZ have commissioned a "SigInt" ship, for the purpose of finding, collecting, and processing signals from nomads and their systems. (See the TAZ message dump for backstory.)
The ship is piloted by Fnordette resurrectee Sylvia deLuna. She has been tasked to hook up with Tannik Seldon and offer her services. Hey, who knows.. she's not susceptible to telepathy, being an AI, and just maybe the squishies will talk to her.
The SCRA have also sent intelligence vessels with orders to 'find out what the hell is going on'. The Commie spies have mapped out the newly discovered Nomad Guard systems and are currently gathering intel on the Nomads that have been witnessed attacking Freeport 11. Information gathered may or may not remain top secret.
If any of you read my post about wanting to RP an Order Nomad hunter of sorts (dont worry, I wanna make him more than a PVP platform) then I think I could add to this little ensemble. Link to my post here.
You say you need nomad brains to be dissected? Perhaps my fella sells them to you as part of his mission. He is still independent in my mind, but working with those who are like him wold be nice I think.
I'd like help with ideas so that my guy isn't derivative. I've already mentioned my intent to Treewyrm.
I think it's a good idea. Maybe not the "group" per-se, but having a single unified thread for everyone involved directly or indirectly in Nomad research to post findings and reports in would be handy. I have a couple of characters (in-game and not) that would find it useful. I'm planning to post a "report" soon by Hector Sloan that describes the data collected by the probes that he and Tannik deployed on Xerna (see my latest story post, and thanks to Treewyrm for providing the information I will use to write the report). If you'd like, that post could be the beginning of such a thread, or I can wait for that kind of thread to appear and add the report then.
Hector is a Cambridge professor of Xenobiology, with some as-yet-unspecified ties to the government: it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to officially put him in CRI. He'll be the one reporting on the Xerna Probe Project. If anyone wants to "borrow" him for any of their stories, they are welcome to. Just reference what's written about him in my story to keep things consistent.
As far as Sylvia finding Tannik, that's fine with me. He probably won't know quite what to do with her, but it should be fun anyway.
We just need an Offishul "thread starter" to get the ball rollin'.
Magoo, it's your baby, but i'd have no problem with Tannik or SK 855 starting it off either.
Gotta give these squishies somethin' to play off of. This smacks of the good ol' Veranda days with HarleyCo and Co. Never knew from one minute to the next where the story would lead. (Usually led me into a world of hurt, heh.)
Linus enjoys exploring & such, especially in the Omicrons. Now, being in the TAZ he may not be a scientist-type or anything, but he's game to help somehow. And he's curious, and spends most of his time in the border worlds anyway. =P

Now would be the perfect time to get the message dump up and going with the arrival of the 'new nomads' the Keepers. On the note of having a shared message dump not a faction, the Xenos have just done that. All the Xenos pilots can post on there, although they are not bound together by a faction. Same here? It would just help to get stuff orginised.
Phew! Sorry guys... Haven't been on teh forums since Wednesday because my Marine brother is visiting for Thanksgiving vacation. So I wont really be able to play till' Monday... Ish due to a compromise of another agreement I made.
Anywho, so yeah. Seeing as how I can't really be 'active' so to speak until a few days from now, Unit/Tannik can feel free to fire things up... Oh! And Lancer, feel free to join in... I don't see why not. Maybe you can tell us about Nomad systems like the Unknowns in there.
