You are my favourite faction on this server.

Skype calls, maffic spam and miscommunication with Dusty yelling, good times, nice to see you went official.

There's a rumor in the IMG channels that you guys have requested a barge to be put on Hood - what's that all about? I wasn't aware GMS had gone into goldmining...

... although if you name that barge "[GMS]Ze.Arch" that could lead to amusement.:D

We do indeed have a barge there. I'm not entirely sure of its purpose but I don't believe it is anything immediate. Its more of a preparation for 4.86 if my mind serves me. It is also named [GMS]Ze.Arch.

Then that will lead to future amusement, I suppose. How you're going to maintain a barge in a Bret system when your house is at war with the BAF should be interesting to see... Consider in advance IMG's neutrality (predetermined in the storyline) will translate to the same deal they have going on with Kusari/Bretonia: IE not allowing the opposing party's ships to dock at IMG bases on the other side of the border. As I recall Dublin will end up partially contested, but still Bretonian, which would mean GMS ships could not dock at Hood, come that time.

Eventually, yes, we're going to turn the Dublin raids into more concentrated mining when Gallia pushes down that far in .86

As for Ze.Arch being stationed on the Hood, that's not really the plan, that's just where it is currently. I'm going to end up having it floating off in space somewhere in Dublin as a mobile facility of sorts. The only reason it's on the Hood presently is because I needed a base to beam it to from Bastille and I figured that'd be a better choice then the Essex. Once we do go gold mining, that barge will become our local drop point, we probably won't ever go near the Hood save for flying by it when we come and go through the system. We'll do our best to preserve the delicate balance you have there.

Of course, as Daedric noted, that's still a ways off before we have any real presence other than the odd raid. Currently, GMS doesn't have a gold sell point or a mining bonus in any of the Dublin fields, so doing any sort of large operation doesn't make much sense yet.

I thank everyone who's commented for the fantastic feedback. It's good to know that there's a few people who like us, and the banter really helps us examine ourselves and grow as a faction. Keep it coming.

Ze Arch is... Well. Its easier to explain with a passage from The Book of Curves.

In the book of turns, chapter 3, Jean Pierre LaBlanc said unto his flock;

"We shall all be raised up by the glory of Ze Arch! We shall be royal beings in its gaze, forever lifed up to the apex of the Holy Curve. Those that do not give themselves to its Holy Perfection, shall be brought down by the arch and smashed by the ends of mistrust and foolishness."

Hope that clears things up about Ze Arch.

Gheis here, just realized I was still on the GMS account.

Moving on with things, we've opened up recruitment, which can be found here. In addition, a loose, OORP ranking system has been established. In the field, everyone is roughly equal, but this'll give a better indication to members who has the authority and rights to what. The ranking system is quoted below, and can also be found in the faction writeup.

Quote:Ranks:
Director
This is the guy in charge, naturally. He can do just about whatever he pleases with the faction, and is the base ingredient used when making awesomesauce.
Senior Member - Must be sponsored by Director/2IC to obtain
Senior members have shown dedication to the faction and deep understanding of the RP blah blah blah. Once a member hits Senior status, he essentially has the ability to take on pet projects, expand on roleplay, and form his own little niche in the faction. These are the sexy people. They're allowed to use any of the faction's ships freely, and can throw together Gallic lawful ships for use in RP that wouldn't be normally used by the faction. All with the Director's approval, of course.
Full Share Member - Must be sponsored by Senior Member or higher to obtain
Full Share Members are guys who've finally been accepted into the faction fully and we've decided haven't been total jerks. Once a member gets here, he's entitled to 100% of one share of mining profits and can make a personal ship following GMS convention with a [GMS] tag in addition to gaining access to all of the shared transports. We might even bequeath him a silly name, if he's lucky.
Trainee
Hoy there, small fry. Lonely at the bottom, eh? Well, being in GMS involves a lot of trust. Trainees are permitted access to one training account and are entitled to only 50% of a full share from mining. A trainee's stay at this rank will hopefully be short, but we've gotta make sure you're going to mesh with the boys before we start handing out real paychecks. If a Trainee doesn't graduate within a couple months, we'll go ahead and give 'em the boot.
Opinions?

Edit 3/12/2011 - Merged the Senior Trainee and Trainee ranks. Seemed to be unnecessary bulk as it was.

Always looking for the word on the street. If there's things we're doing right or wrong, it doesn't matter. I like to know what you guys think of us.

Don't you think it was OORP to be flying into Omicron Gamma?

Sounds like a suicidal trip to me.
