I don't think NPC's are horribly overpowered tbh, if they have some kick then it enforces RP because you can no longer ignore them, or act as though they are lesser people. The only thing that frustrates me, and I'm not sure if it was like this before the mod or not but, whats with their sheild restoration? Its like, 1 second and they have their sheilds back up, only a tad but enough to stop that mini/nova/torp from wiping them out. Set their sheilds more like player ones, plx.
Oh, god, I agree. Some npc are easy-medium to take down with the right guns and ship, but for me, I always avoid Corsairs. Those npc are impossible to hit, and if you do, they fly in un-human manuevers and both shields and hull go gradually up. It's so annoying!!!
Anywho, I like that npc are more realistic, but some are just purely annoying!
As a newbie speaking, it must be frustrating for new players coming on board to find NCP ships manoeuvring at unpredictable jerky movements and your trying to hit them with weapons that don't seem to have much effect. I have been using up-to 6 shield battery's at a time, by the time Ive killed for or five ships, Ive run out, were as the NCP seems to have a inexhaustible amount and my missals have no effect.
Now I'm up to a higher level and managed to get level 6 guns I'm standing a better chance, (Ive stoped using missals though) it's only taking about 30 minuets to take down a dozen ships and I'm enjoying the game better. At first I didn't do to many missions. Yes IT may be my problem regarding flying, but being an old fella I've learnt in life, If you preserver you get there, but for young new kids it must be quite a steep learning curve.
By the way I'm not to complaining, I enjoy the mod and sight greatly just giving an observation.
As a relatively newcomer, I can agree with some things in the previous posts. Doing missions, even in a VHF, particularily the higher-paying missions, can be a real slogfest.
In order to help balance different aspects of this mod, some higher-end guns have had some of their punch taken out. This doesn't help matters when facing smarter, tougher npcs.
In my Manta ( a bounty hunter VHF) it took me anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes to do a 500k credit mission. Most of the time I experienced very little if any lag. For the sake of comparison, a similiar mission took about 5 minutes with my gunship. Fighters have an important role on this server in an rp sense. But for many npc missions, they are painfully inadequate.
Most of the time in my VHF, I opted for arrest / assassination missions. That way I could receive a hefty reward just by shooting down one enemy. Nowadays, I can assassinatte my main target and decimate his henchmen. Reward money plus salvage: on a good day, about 200k extra on top of the mission reward.
Sometimes a player in a more powerful ship will see your plight and offer to join you on a mission. Take them up on their offer, even if it means you have to split the reward. If you get a 710k credit mission, it's still a pretty sweet deal for you.
My only unsolicited advice is have patience. Find a buddy to do some missions with. If any of you have bounty hunter asperations, or just want to shoot down some Corsairs and Hessians, you can look me up in Omega 15.
Well I hit my limit on patience. I've gone from daily play to a complete stop now. If my character (I only use one, I'm not into multiples) gets wiped soon, that'll be it for me. I won't be back to try and restart all over again. But I have no motivation to play again with missions that are just drawn out to the lucky moment when the NPC decides to stop regen'g.
I dont see any feedback or comment at all from those in charge on this, which is extremely disappointing. They want us to vote for this mod, to use it, and invite us to provide feedback here.. but then say nothing to it. Weird.

A tip:
I've tried this with some success: tapping the trigger. Instead of holding down and constantly hammering the NPC target with enough firepower to destroy a planet, I'm shooting in short bursts. It does seem to work, most of the time. I don't know if it's in the NPCs' logic to automagically know exactly how much damage you do to it and counter that with the exact same value of "bots". Maybe tapping the trigger is fooling the NPC that I'm currently not doing much damage to it, hence it does not have to counter with "bots" at the same rate I'm firing. Just a theory.
My characters on Disco: [LN]-Andy.Doggett, The.Flying.Betty, Russ.Dalton, Harald.Treutiger
Yes why did they do this? They make Capitals a bit more expensive, then made NPCs stronger too. The NPCs even get larger shields! What the heck!?
EDIT: Ah great next part. Since no one read the topic, you wont mind if I add one thing in will ya?
If Cruisers and Battleships are doing poorly at trying to hit the goddamned enemy, try a Solaris. It REALLY HELPS! Theres nothing more annoying that being in a gunship trying to take care of [CORSAIR NAME]'s Bomber, with a Rheinland cruiser sitting behind you firing AROUND the enemy.
While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack http://pastebin.com/SYQXBufs
My weapons load works great against NPCs. Have you even tried pvp? It took me 20 min just to kill another player with the same skill level and ship. That's only one warm blooded human sitting at his computer like I was. So, please don't complain about it takes 20 min to kill multiple NPCs. Take along a friend on your missions to help out if it's that hard. Don't leave the server over some stupid computer that gets under your skin. It's just a game.
