Oh you creepy ninjas! The fact is, there is too much of PvP as pirates. Why the hell does Mercenaries and Freelancers have to register with bounty board to have legal PvP while he could get Pirate ID and maybe have even higher profit with less effort. That's the problem. Pirates should keep pirating (money). Terrorists should keep terrorizing (casualties).

40 of them are off looking for PVP.
Other ten are sitting on their own lane and demanding all of your cargo.
You want them all to do so? Poor traders..
Kinda true. If they kill me, I at least end up where I bought the cargo and can move out again. If they take the cargo and let me live, I'm stuck halfway between my business places with nothing.
But it's true. Pirates PVP too much. And one reason, I believe, is: it's easy and satisfying. It's easy to chill at a lane in a bomber, a buddy with you to chat with, just waiting for a transport. When one pops up, you demand some credits, and when he tries to run (which 80% do) all you've gotta do is buzz around the transport and pepper it with SNACs until it pops in a nice, satisfying cloud of molten metal and debris.

You are sadly misinformed. Generally, it isn't very profitable unless you are hunting miners. Which isn't such a big issue since they are pretty rare nowadays

I second that, I recall that I read this somewhere in the rules board a while back and that's also how I used to do it when I was still playing a pirate ID. Fact remains that pirates are supposed to be greedy, have long beards and have a parrot.
If a pirate just randomly attacks a transport without making a demand first it's just plain old pvp abuse, however if the same thing happens with a lawful fighter or bomber or whatever, I don't really see a problem to it. In that case it's just survival of the fittest.

I am not misinformed. I am talking from my personal experience.
Tsk. I've had pirates ask me for more credits than I can sell my cargo for at the base I'm taking it to. Best request ever was 15 million on a hull-load of Mining Machinery. (5000 cargo)
That's plain old pvp abuse, but I managed to run away in time.
Sucks to be a weight on the wrong side of the brilliance-insanity scale.
