Standard Challenger loadout is 4 adv splitters (do more damage to graviton sheilds than debbeis) a SN or a nova, and a mini or a CD in the other slot.
Nuke mines, Heavy CM.

Now since the ship can't mount a CM dropper, how do you suppose they missed?

Anti-shield missiles have the same turning and speed stats as homing missiles.

So if you can't hit a capship with no CM dropper with a homing missile how do you expect to do it with a dumbfire missile?

I posted based on my experiances in-game with missiles and I stick by it.

Lag and other things cause missiles to loose tracking.. when they do you need to re-target....

Press CTR+T and then T again (or others depending on your settings).
And yes they are not usefull against capships... but they own vanilla ships.

Wombat, you haven't flown a bomber with a Supernova have you. Vastly superior to a Nova or Sunslayer. In just about every way.

Flying around Sirius as I have, A "standard" loadout isn't really there. but averages say...

2 ShieldBusters and 2 Hullbusters, 1 SNova, 1 TrainCD, NukeMine, HvyCM.
or
4 ShieldBusters, 1Snova, 1TrainCD, NukeMine, HvyCM
or
4 HullBusters, 1Snova, 1Inferno, NukeMine, HvyCM (Outcast friendly)

Which HullBusters? Up to you and your RP. BHG have good ones in Reavers OR Buckshots. Outcasts have Krakens. Independants should use whatever their RP allies them to.

Personally, I am still loading-out my Bomber, but I have 1SNova, 1 TrainCD, Nuke, and HvyCD. Looking at 2 ImpDeb and 2 DIAMONDBACKS. I like the effect. I also might choose 2xMiniRazors for quicker fire-rate, but less damage. Sadly, I'm not allied with Outcasts, or I'd have 1Inferno, 1Mini/SNova, depending on what I'm taking out.

Mjonlir, I agree, but Havoc is a bomber.
Your Sabre has 7 weapon slots, and an Inferno.
You can mount 2 launchers and still have 5 guns for hull + Inferno for shields;)

Bomber should be armed for killing capital ships, not fighters.
So, here's my suggestion.
Ditch the Sunslayer, get a Supernova.
On your other slot you can use M-razor or CD, depends on what you want.
CD can help you a lot if you fight solo against a Gunboat, while M-razor can own fighters, and mostly their shields (works almost as good as inferno on fighter shields).

As for the weapons, here it goes.
Now, you have a few possible ways to go.
You can mount 2 debilitators and 2 coddies/nomads. It's not so good against a fighter, every decent fighter should take you down.
You can mount 3 debilitators and a Cannonball launcher.
This way you have a good chance against Vanilla fighters, and you still have 3 Debilitators for gunboats and other capital ships.
You can mount 2 debilitators and 2 launchers (both should be hull breachers, so possibly cannonball and sidewinder).
This way you have a very good loadout against vanilla fighters, but you lack some guns for Gunboat shields.
You can mount 4 debilitators, which is most commonly used.
With this loadout you are great against every capital ship, and you still can help your teammates with fighter shields in group fights.
After some time spent in a Bomber, you might even learn to kill fighters with a supernova or mini-razor.
So guns are not that needed.

Of course, these are only a few loadouts, and they are all only meant for you and other lawfuls.
Unlawfuls like Outcasts can mount 4 guns, Inferno and Supernova, and they are ready for anything that might come against them.
There are many more loadouts, but I gave you most commonly used, which are also pretty good for beginners.
Also, Missiles do work, you only need to learn to use them properly.
If you spam them, your enemy will be aware of that and will dodge until you'v spent them all.
If you use them once in a while, in a good moment, they are really a good weapon.
All my fighters except one are using at least 1 launcher.
But i don't use them on my bombers, i use coddies and shieldbusters.

Unselie, those splitters might work on fighters, but canyou really take a Gunboat shield with a single bomber armed like that?
I mean with guns, of course.

You answered yourself there...

my post was merely reaction to marauder saying that "you cannot hit the broadside of a barn with missiles"

@Unselie:

Adv. Splitters???? Am I missing something... it says tachyon guns.... Ultra Suntrail is particle so it should be that one that does more damage to graviton shields.

It means the ship was made in origanal freelancer. It is not a Discovery made ship. The ships from 'vanilla' freelancer are made up of serveral parts, and when an area dammage weapon, like missiles, ammo based torps, and mines, hit them, they take dammage based on the ammount of parts hit. For example, the avenger, a vanilla style ship, will die when hit with a single nuklear mine. The same hit will do about 1/6- 1/7 hull damage agianst a raven claw, which is NOT a vanilla ship.

BTW, swap you mesquito in for a train cd. it is worlds better, regardless of the info card.

If you don't have a companion flying with you, make sure you have a train cd. You will also need the supernova but more importantly the skills to bring down your targets. Using shieldbusters on gun slots could be useful.
