Two CDs would, more than likely, destroy themselves. Ever try shooting two really quick? Unless you're aiming virtually straight forward, they cross each others paths and detonate.

At least from what I've seen.

I like this idea. I think it could be implemented into one of the Beta's so we can test it and make sure it doesn't un-balance everything.

I think the idea is worth a shot - also, the increased reverse speed. Last I checked, the Hessian Cruiser goes backwards at 60.:P

Hessian cruiser reverses at 15, I would totally go for an intercepter-like ship. lighter the better. Slipstream is cool but it loses weapons fast. If there is any explosives involed in a fight at all, I always count on at least one loss.

I like the Reverse Thruster idea, that's a good one for sure. Also, upping their forward speed a bit, too, to say 250 might also be a good idea.

However...

ARE YOU INSANE? Sorry, Dusty, but...NO. It's already impossible to get away from a SINGLE gunboat with a Train CD if he has any brains at all. Imagine him with Interceptor support with three of these things. Hell, even Battleships would be vulnerable. Also, Ichtan is right. They explode when in that proximity.

Very true. They would detonate each other. You can try it on a bomber.

Anyway, reverse is a good idea. Hope to see that discussed further.

I noted, to my delight, that the Kusari Cruise Liner has a reverse thrust of 65.

It instantly transformed the ship into a delightfully unique vessel in my eyes, in addition to allowing me to pull a fast one on an unsuspecting Barghest, who didn't seem sure of what to do with this big transport moving really fast in all the wrong directions with guns blazing.

A faster reverse speed could make for all manner of interesting new techniques.

It would create a new set of problems for lawfuls- Imagine if smugglers started using them. They'd be impossible to catch, with the speed upped. They're using thrusters, not cruise, and CD would do nothing to that.

Smugglers in an interceptor? What would be the point? Going really, really fast, with a next to non-existent cargo hold with three Cardamine roll-up cigarettes in your pocket? I don't think it's an issue.
