It's been 818 for 2 years.

At least that's what I think.

Everyone is also assuming that Sirius time advances at the same rate as real time - this isnt true, and never has been.

Consider this: Trent took weeks to travel from bretonia to freeport 7 then to liberty. A player ingame can make that journey in an hour.

Discovery's current year is 818 A.S. The date changes with the release of new mod versions, not with real-time. It will be 819 A.S. when 4.86 goes live on the server, not before.

About time not stopping, I have heard that something like this has happened before, where by the community has been roleplaying time in no relation to real time.

Also the game does not specify that the game revolves around real time. Plus it is a roleplay game, you are playing what the lore dictates, but as well we have to respect the choice of roleplay others make, even if they are the ones sticking to lore, instead of making an issue about it.
Basically this:

819, because it makes A LOT more sense than 804.

Since 804 is not an option here I have no clue how you have read this thread. Other than not read it.

919 A.S.

In all seriousness, though, it does go a long way in explaining all the ridiculously rapid expansion into new systems and such that's happened since vanilla, as well as all the new ships and guns and all that that've turned up since then.

Characters
Alan Markson: The Hellfire Legion's Lord Commander
The Perihelion: Freeport Four's guardian, and yet much more. Missing and assumed Lost with all hands.
Eric Dresmund: Junker, smuggler, thief. Last seen drunk on Beaumont
Vayrn Wyard: IMG Recon pilot turned Neo-Terran Captain. Last location unknown

Theoretical in 818 AS.

In practice: 819 AS.

Since most of the faction's history already go into 819 AS, and I always try to make my characters refer to their faction history, I'm forced to play in 819 AS. :rtfm:

Why is everyone doing this... sarcasm!? I'd also waited now for years, but I don't understand, why being pessimistic would develope .86 faster?

I've read, and understand, the thread. I'm saying that roleplaying it as 819 makes more sense than roleplaying it as 804 A.S. It doesn't matter if 804 is an option, it still makes more sense:P
