You still have to take into account the fire speed to catgorize them by power too. If the nomad had a 2.00 refire rate it would only do 700 damage as the Osiris do 1200 at a 2.00 rate.
The turrets shouldn't be unmounteable as there are chaingun turrets (such as the Solaris) that are only for cap-ships and are made for cap-ships. As well as the new Tizona turrets are gonna be level 10 and will also be for cap-ship use also. But putting a fighter's guns that are even stronger than normal battleship guns {heck stronger than the MOST powerful BS gun...} is unbalancing all the ships. The reason we will have more non-stock turrets made for cap-ships specifically is to add diversity among capital ships while not unbalancing them. But Marsflyer turrets and others need to be made off-limits for capital ships or made weaker {or make the cap-ships turrets stronger} than the BS turrets. I remember when it took some moderate skill to take down a battleship in a lone fighter without support. Now even a first time player in a ship with novas and tizonas can take it down within 2 minutes. Now there is more risk for the battleship than there is for the fighter unless it has 6 or more missile turrets. Battleships, cruisers, destroyers, and gunboats need to be made much stronger than the fighters.

There's a simple solution to that. The new ships get the new turrets.

But those are optional turrets. Made specifically for help with anti-fighter combat but still adequate to fight another cap-ship with. We just need to make the capital ships have stronger guns than the fighters and it will fix it all. That way it will be more balanced as well as still allow strong ships and a diversity of weapon loadouts.
Yeah, battleships need stronger turrets. When a fighter kicks a BS's ass, you know there's something wrong with the balancing. By making the turrets more powerful, we need to introduce another disadvantage to the battleships (below).
And I know the turrets are optional right now. I was simply suggesting that we should give the new turrets to the new ships instead of keeping them optional. There will be some ships that are made for BS vs BS battles, while others are made for BS vs VHF battles. This will also help the people new to Discovery decide on which ship to buy.
Some people try buying the BS with the best armor and firepower, and mount the best turrets on it. By doing this they get the best of both sides. While this may have advantages for them, it still unbalances the mod.

This is why I agree with whoever it was that suggested balancing the gun slot number on the battleships. The RH BS is the most bought battleship for the only reason of the huge number of gun slots.
And on the Defence of those who put fighter Turrets on Capital class ships, whats wrong with that?, players have a Right to customize there ship any way they want, if you don't like it, ok opinion taken, but by no means does that mean to change Discovery so that a few turrets can be put in different places.
I spent over 175 million credits to get the loadout that my ship has now, thats alot of time and money invested in a character, hard work to get all that stuff, so personally let the player do what he wants to his ship its his or her choice, not the choice of a select few.

It's not that I don't like it. It's just that it unbalances the mod.
But I understand what you're trying to say. I've been in that position as well. In that case, there should be some limits on how BSs can be customised. Agree?

And those limits would be needed to keep the mod balanced. You guys are always talking about balancing the mod but when it comes to something you made that is unbalanced you don't want to get rid of it. So what you spent 175mil. Maybe Igiss out of kindness might compensate you... You can't scream for balance in one hand while you say no don't touch this we want it in the other.
Guys, the only real thing that unbalances the mod is how we customize the ships.
Yes, Korrd and Sam have the two most powerful warships on the server cause they have a combination of Solaris, Missle and Marsflyer turrets. Me? I have solaris and Gunboat turrets. My configuration is powerful in it's own right, but not as powerful as I'd like it to be.
ANYONE can customize their ship and become the most powerful battleship in Sirus. that is a universal fact, guys. Don't scream "unbalanced" just cause of this.
If anything, I'd remove marsflyer entirely. Sam and Korrd (me in that case) spent time and money getting the marsflyer turrets, so.. take those turrets and replace them with a similar setup.. "Doomsday" weapons if you will.
The stronger we make a battleship, the more powerful BS Weapons we'll need. Universal fact of war.
