Great books, as Xoria said, the fourth book is somewhat of a pace killer but it is also caused because of book three being uber good. I like Martin's style, he thinks dark, gory and his world is full of treachery. Also, after reading several books, you cannot say that people are definitely bad or good. Great reading, and the series are great too, so far.
This is kind of funny, but for some reason the name Legend of the Seeker was stuck in the back of my head. After reading the post, I decided to give this serial a try, but I loaded Legend of the Seeker instead, thinking that you were talking about this serial. I managed to watch 1 and 1/2 episodes when I finally screamed: "Holly shait and jumping Marry...." I decided not to listen to any of your advice. Today I reread the post and discovered my mistake. I will give it another go.
To say that my brain was violently raped by the Legend of the Seeker is not to say anything. I hope that The Game of Thrones is nothing like the damn Seeker.

Being a very old-school PnP D&D'er, by the time I got to high school I had such a venomous burntout hatred of the whole fantasy genre that I still carry it today.
:angry:I STILL EFFIN' HATE THE ENTIRE EFFIN' GENRE!!!!!!!!!!
I'm on the fifth book now and I'm praying the author lives a few more years to finish the whole saga
After I read it... 4-5 more years of waiting
Just finished the fifth book the other week. And now I gotta wait 5 or more years for the next sequel? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
1. A Game of Thrones, August 1996
2. A Clash of Kings, November 1998
3. A Storm of Swords, August 2000
4. A Feast for Crows, October 2005
5. A Dance with Dragons, July 2011
6. The Winds of Winter, (Forthcoming)
7. A Dream of Spring, (Forthcoming)
If I can see a pattern here, it'll be more than 5 years until the next book release...
